For the dough-challenged (including me), Trader Joe's makes a pretty darn good ready-to-go dough (not baked crust).

Sounds like a lot of fun. I have a great pizza dough recipe that is really easy, also a really good one for the bread machine, for anyone who needs one. I have also tried the pizza dough from TJ's and it is quite good.

magothyrivergirl, when we do a virtual party, we all cook the item on that day and there will be a thread for comments, pictures, whatever... doesn't matter what actual time you eat...could be lunch or dinner. Some may invite friends over and actually party, we just have fun with it.

This theme is pizza and you could do anything that you can in any way call pizza. Could be appetizer pizza, or a main dinner type pizza or even a dessert pizza... No rules! It's still and pizza even if you pop a frozen one in the oven (although beware, we just might razz someone a little if they do that) :))

But the real point is, we will all be enjoying pizza and thinking about our friends here on the forum.

Wolf doesn't eat pizza but I think I can get away with a Mallorcan Coca de Verduras.....a sort of large flat crust with baked on vegetables, which could be called Majorcan Pizza.

I'm in! I'll have to do what I've done before - make the dough ahead of time, because I work on Saturdays. I had a pizza party a while back when my brother came to town on a Saturday, and had suggested we just order pizza. Well, I couldn't just order pizza, so I made the dough ahead of time, and then just had to do the toppings and bake the pizza that night. It was a lot of fun, and I'm eager to do it again!

I put my crust and sauce recipes on the recipe thread for the pizza party. They are all very good, the machine recipe is a breeze if you have a bread machine.

A pizza party for Groundhog Day! I want to play...but it's also the day I'm planning for my son's 4th b'day party. So if I'm making pizza for the party don't expect anything too challenging :-). If we're not completely pizza-ed out I'dd do something spectacular for dinner that isn't dictated by a 4YO's pallate.

Just a reminder...

I hav to go to an all day CPR/First Aide workshop on Saturday down in Philly. I don't know what to do. I may do it Friday nite or Sunday. Or another weekend. This ALWAYS happens to me when I try to participate in these VDs. I usually end up doing it a week later! Maybe I'll just go out to a fancy pizza restaurant. We have a couple in Allentown. But I don't have anyone to go with, :(
There's a cute store two blocks from me that sells premade frozen gourmet pizzas, maybe now is the time to try one.

My DH makes the most delicious artichoke and olive pizza. It is to die for! I'm in for the virtual party but I'll be a voyeur. I have no digital camera.

It sounds like fun although we'll be out of town. I look forward to seeing everyone's recipes and pictures though. We make pizza quite frequently. I make the dough and the pizza maker's sauce from "Pizza Napoletana!" by Pamela Sheldon Johns. The dough is for a flat pizza with large air pockets that build up, just like in Italia! We put our baking stones in the oven and crank them for the best results.

My favorite is to duplicate the California Pizza Kitchen roasted red peppers, bacon, caramelized onions and goat cheese. Turns out wonderful and very close to the original.

We set out as many toppings as the counter will hold and everyone makes their own. It's always a fun production in our house.

I make pizza every week. I'll play with y'all this Saturday!

I'm still planning to participate, but I've decided to do it on Sunday instead. I just don't want to have to rush home from work and try to do a nice pizza dinner. So, I'll have a relaxed pizza day on Sunday, instead.

I just now opened this thread - I thought I was too late, but since it's on this Saturday, I might be able to join in. I'll make a point to start my dough Friday morning, since I have appointments Friday afternoon. I might end up making calzone instead of pizza, or maybe panzerotti.
