Rose Petal gift soap

Does anyone have the instructions for making the soap that you dip rose petals in. You use one rose petal to wash your hands. I think you use real rose petals.

I want to get started on making my Christmas gifts...I always wait until the last min. and get too stressed.

I'm ready to get started.

Pattico - Found this. All the sites I found used silk petals. Hope it's helpful.

"Buy silk rose petals (the kind used at weddings), or you can buy them on the stem and clip them off the stem.

Melt about 1/2 cup of clear glycerin soap base. When melted, add whatever scent you have on hand (approximately 20 drops or until you achieve the desired fragrance. I like to use a Rose Garden fragrance.

Using a pair of tweezers, dip rose petals in the melted glycerin soap. Dip one at a time, shaking off the excess soap, and place the petal on waxed paper to dry. As they start to dry, gently turn them over to keep them from getting a glob of soap underneath them."

Thank you Barb...I think silk will do just as nice...maybe better.

I have several cousins and friend that I think would love a bag of those and a cut glass bowl to put them in.

Hi Ann, Just wanted to let you know that the scent from any rose will not come through in soap. You must use a fragrance oil to achieve that unfortunatley. During the saponification process the petals will become brown as well, so do not expect any color from them either. You can crush the dried petals and put them on top of the soap, tons of soapers put botanicals on top, however, they may look pretty but become a total nightmare in the shower or tub. If you are looking for a place to learn how make soap I highly recommend the soap forum I frequent. We have over 5000 members now and some very very experienced soapmakers that contribute tremendously. I would also recommend you start reading the archives section first from the start of the forum (nov. 2002) and work forward. You will no doubt learn all the do's and don'ts in regard to soapmaking. she hasn't updated the site lately, but when i emailed & said i wanted the 8 cavity mold (told her i had seen the 12 cavity on ebay, but didn't want to wait for the auction to end) she emailed back & said: "Well I'm making them all 12 cavities now.. It’s definitely thrips, it just took me a while to confirm. I just started using insecticidal soap the week before last, and I really can’t tell if they’re still there or if I’m even spraying the bugs. It just so happens that mosquitoes are peaking, and they’re bad enough I’m going to have to treat my yard. I have dormant mosquitos covering my front porch and door during the day and swarming at night. Before this I was hoping to go spray- free with my roses, but I’m still learning so I wasn’t completely decided yet. If I spray selectively and avoid the roses and hydrangeas, am I just asking for more problems in those areas? Or should I just spray everything and be done with it, knowing the mosquito treatment will also get rid of thrips?

What a neat idea. So you take a petal from the bowl and then wash, discard. At first I though you covered a bar of soap with them. Pretty Clever. I hope I get one in my Christmas card this year . . .hint . . . hint. . .

That's such a cute idea!!

This link will take you to a site where they have put the soap rose petals together so that you have a rose in your soap dish... each rose has about 12 soap petals.

That's really inexpensive...I wonder if I can make them that "cheap"

But I bet people would be more inclined to use them if they were not a flower...I think they would be too pretty to use.

Gosh...I'm happy I could solve someone's gift giving....I wish it would take care of all of mine...It will help...but not take care of....I need to downsize the giving to the kids and grandkids....bunches.
