Here is a mold for making the rose petal soap. Think someone was looking for one.

BTW, ebay is offering FREE fixed price auctions today. I've listed over 25 so far.

I've also noticed that some of the rose buds are turning black and drying out. The roses that this is happening to, are mainly on the south side of the house and it's pretty hot and dry there. We've had some really hot and dry weather lately and I just assumed that this was the cause. I could be wrong about it being weather related, so someone can correct me if it's something else.

Pattico - Found this. All the sites I found used silk petals. Hope it's helpful. "Buy silk rose petals (the kind used at weddings), or you can buy them on the stem and clip them off the stem. Melt about 1/2 cup of clear glycerin soap base. When melted, add whatever scent you have on hand (approximately 20 drops or until you achieve the desired fragrance. I like to use a Rose Garden fragrance. Using a pair of tweezers, dip rose petals in the melted glycerin soap. Dip one at a time, shaking off the excess soap, and place the petal on waxed paper to dry. As they start to dry, gently turn them over to keep them from getting a glob of soap underneath them." This was another site that told how to make them: http://www.candlesupply.com/how2soappetals.html

They are very pretty, Hazel, but I agree with you that the picture (or our conception of the picture) was misleading. They did make very nice petals, but don't seem to be nearly as impressive (in shape, size, and intricacy) as the photo posted by the seller. However, they are beautiful and I think they will sell well. Susan

Usually the soap bases sold at places like Hobby Lobby and Michaels are not high quality... cheap to buy and use, but yield almost no lather. For a (very) good quality soap, see link below to SFIC. Yes, you should add scent. It is nice for 'rose petals' to smell like rose petals. And again, get a high quality scent for best results. If you're going to put all that work into making the rose petal soaps, you should start with quality ingredients, or you will be disappointed with the results. How am I missing the 12 cavity? The site only shows 8 for 15.00. Was it through your email?

she hasn't updated the site lately, but when i emailed & said i wanted the 8 cavity mold (told her i had seen the 12 cavity on ebay, but didn't want to wait for the auction to end) she emailed back & said:

"Well I'm making them all 12 cavities now.. Like I had said.. LOL I'm WAY behind in my site..so you can have a 12 for the same price.. "

Sorry, should have clarified that in the other post.....
