Comments (10)The electric company can tell you the cost and procedures. And your builder has probably dealt with it before. I'm not sure if it's an rule of our electric coop or of the county but all new lines here must be underground now from any existing poles. Going underground from the nearest pole to the new transformer for the house was "free" meaning that we didn't have to pay for the wire (up to I think about 150' and that's right where we were). The electric coop would have dug the trench but the upcharge for rock was very steep so we had our concrete excavator dig it (there was a bunch of rock in the way and he charge around $400. It was required that the transformer be a certain nearness to the house. From the transformer to the house was another 150' or so for us and the electric company handled the digging and charged by the foot for the wire. It was around $400 for that section all paid to the electric coop....See MoreTelephone Problem
Comments (3)I thougnt ATT&T/Bell Atlantic/VZ whoever they are.... got all their Network interfaces in a LONG TIME ago, and I mean a LONG, LONG time ago. If they have not, which it seems they have not, then I would say, they owe you an NID, which you apparently do not have, unless you have not looked around enough. If you incredibly do not have one, they will put one on your house. It's a residential version of a DeMarc, a demarcation point that determines, who owns what wires. I would look around very carefully, if you don not have one, I THINK they have to install one for free. Then you can test further. The other way is to trace the telco back to the nearsest point where it enters, disconnect everything, but their wires, buy an RJ11 jack, wired it in and check for static, etc. It'sd a PITA to do it thst way. But VZ will chatge you for a tech. So I'd look for a NID...and then call. Without the NID, neither you or VZ can prove who is at fault...why do you think they have spent all the money installing them> KEN...See MoreRG6 coaxial and telephone lines
Comments (6)Phone lines can be affected too, and if you go with dsl rather than cable internet it could cause issues. Very important also is to watch your bend radii, you must not bend the coax cable sharply (the mfr ought to have a spec sheet on that) or you seriously compromise its ability to carry clear video; also, avoid crushing it with stapes etc there may be special anchors for coax available but don't squish it!...See Moremtnrdredux_gw
