combi steam oven- Wolf now vs wait for Miele?
Comments (45)We had been waiting a long time for this oven to appear in Canada and we planned to install it in our new condo that is under construction. We had ordered it and obtained confirmation from Miele that it would operate at 208v. We have since found out that this oven has not been approved by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) for use at 208v and consequently Miele are now not offering it for sale in Canada. Apparently it has been approved by the CSA to run at 240v but no one in Canada has this voltage available to them. Our condo builder told us it would cost about $2000 for extra wiring and a transformer and we would have to put up with a hum and a transformer mounted "in the open" for cooling requirements. He also told us he would not install a device if it was not CSA approved. If any Canadian reader has a different story on the power supply, we would like to know. We were very, very keen to get this oven and are frustrated that Miele would not have addressed this power supply issue....See Morewolf convection steam vs miele dgc 5085 xl vs aeg bs7304001m
Comments (10)The AEG oven itself looks good...online, i went out the the shops today, no one had it. One place said they are trying to get a display. They could not tell me anything about it. One guy compared it to steam assist by whirlpool. No one had the new Miele either, just the steam only models...no discounts on them yet. Saw the Wolf, its nice. The AEG: 2.6 cubic feet The manual Says 25% 50% and 100% steam modes. Four paned cool touch glass door. (some models) Has a convection Fan and convection element. Has a Broil Element Has a Steam generator. you can see it in this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKMVTrDR5E4 (which has info text in German). Seems to also function as a bake element when not water is present. (Probably a mint to replace it it goes) Other notable modes. Proofing Bake, Broil and/or Convection Drying Warming Steam Reheating Steam Baking A Third bigger than wolf at less than half the price. There are a few add ons for those that want them...oven racks and glides ect. Wolf seems easier to control, at least initially. Mind you, this is with out playing with the AEG so its tough to say for sure. Looks like AEG does not heat left overs as well, it probably does not preheat as fast either due to size. If i go this way it will be easier to talk the wife into a Speed oven. Bonus Video of AEG: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQ166Xe2m78 If any one has this I would like to see your contribution to the potato race. I don't think it would beat a steam oven but would be interested to know the time....See Morebosch convection oven and steam oven vs. miele or wolf?
Comments (22)We're building a new house and the placement of the appliances is pretty much fixed at this point. We didn't have any idea of how tricky this would be. Speed oven, Steam oven plus 30" convection oven and induction cooktop. Where to put them all? And how to decide which manufacturer so that they all match, without breaking the bank? We're thinking that the 30" Convection oven will be the one we use least. The Miele Steam seems better than the Bosch, but that means we have to make everything Miele to match. Miele 30 " convection is a lot more expensive than the Bosch. And how many of you have a Speed oven and what do you use it for? Currently, we use a Microwave to heat a bowl of soup, or warm up coffee, or reheat leftovers. We roast a lot of chicken and use a Convection oven..same with fish. We're a retired couple so it's mostly the 2 of us, and wonder how often we'll have a crowd and use everything at once. Plus, we're moving to FL and will have a good grill with a rotisserie, so will have that option too. Also wondering about a plain Microwave +Combi Steam+ Convection set up. But we're thinking that for resale value, we should have a Speed Oven. Can any of you tell me which appliances you use the most and do you have any experience with Bosch cooking appliances? And has anyone out there ever installed a wall oven under a cooktop, rather than buying a slide in or built in stove?...See MoreWolf vs Miele combi steam oven (CSO)?? Any issues? Reliability?
Comments (5)Our Miele CSO is almost 6 years old. Wonderful piece of engineering! Great for all kinds of food...for baking and cooking. We chose the Miele over the Wolf because it was the preferred choice of this forum (the old Gardenweb). Posters were pretty much universal in saying that the Miele is easier to use, and much easier to clean. Also, we were pairing the CSO with a regular convection oven. The Wolf ovens had a problem with the blue enamel chipping. Not sure if that situation has been solved....See More- 10 years ago
