A BIG Hello to everyone!
I have not been in here since 98-99.

Are there any prim crafters in here??
I do primitive crafts. I make dolls or anything grungy! It is an aquired taste. My DH thinks I am strange. LOL..

Hey, I just happened to pop in here today to see if there were any primitive crafts posted and here your post is! LOL I used to post on here but it was back in about 2001...so I missed you!

I love primitive and country crafts. I make a lot for myself to decorate the house and do occasional gifts for others.

I visit another forum over on Delphi a lot with loads of Primitive and Rustic crafters if you're interested in that, too. But like you, I'm curious if others like the same type of crafts here. I think there is one gal with primitive in her name...

I do! I do! I must have acquired the taste because I love old and rusted. Gives me warm fuzzies! I don't make anything in particular, just a few things for myself and decorate in country prim as much as DH will let me. :) ~Anj

Dream and Tammy, I think you'll be surprised at how nice the fruit is at Walmart. Its over by the half marbles and silk flowers and candle section at my WM. I like it better than Michaels and its sure cheaper. I got a bunch of lemons and limes also and filled a big glass vase with them on my kitchen counter. By the way, Ladies and Jim, my DH made me laugh on my recent decor. You have to realize, he's totally oblivious to things to begin with. I've always said I could paint the house red and he might notice "something was different" a week or so later. Well, he's quietly HAD to see the plate decor since it's right in middle of our table. I push it to one side while we eat, LOL. So far it's been decorated for Valentines, St Pats, Easter, Memorial Day & July 4th, and now the fruit just for late summer I guess. But the other day he came in (and after it had been sitting there a few days, LOL) and said "so what are we celebrating this time?". Hey....he noticed anyway! hugs, Karen

No, that's not it. I think the artwork is probably used on pillows and other things too. You'd find it at a craft fair in the US or in one of the online places. I just don't know what to call it to get an example. I may just look up some coloring pages and make my own. Thank you, anyway.

'Grungy' candles

I did a search for "wax candle lamps" and looked at a few of the sites that came up. My belief is those candles lamps are made with silicone in which they added some light colored material (paint??) to make it hazy like a real candle. I'm not sure if you used something like GE Silicone II and painted it with that if it would work. Even though it's thick, I don't know if it would run and drip down the candle stick part. You might like the effect though as it would look like dripped wax - start at the bottom and work your way up, letting each layer/section dry before you did the next.

Hi JuJu, Glad to see your post. I LIKE prim stuff as accents and am thinking about ideas to make. I don't do woodwork, but mostly sewing, quilting. I like the use of black in prim things. I also like dolls, including the Prim Annies, but have stored most of my dolls and don't use them for decorating anymore. Next project idea is a super Prim look pineapple appliqued on pillows for couches. Let's hear more of your projects! Used to have Amish dolls and things sitting around. I feel passe' now....

I also do primitive fabric crafts.What are your favorites? I know some love sheep, teddy bears, dolls, crows... lately I've been making a lot of bunnies. I agree it can be addicting. I think I will try my hand at some painting next!!

Thanks sweets...I received your email and I'm all registered...The weather is beginning to warm up a bit here in MI and I will soon be able to urban shop and hit the flea markets..... :)

Mostly all I do now is primitive. I just love it. Prim and Rustic is a great forum. I used to be on this board too. I paid for membership for the first year. crafty12b

Sweets i would love to get the delphi site link as well. I do love prim. Im a painter mainly wood but I dabble in other surfaces. I have made some prim stuff for friends and a few pieces for myself. Im holding off Until the summer to make more. We are moving in about 3 weeks so I dont want to start. Im afraid I wont be able to stop :0)

Here is an example of one of the things I make. Love this table that I saw in Country Sampler and made one for myself. The basic construction is like the one in the magazine, but the finish is entirely different....
