forgot how to make a shortcut!

I accidentally deleted my shortcut to email, and now, for the life of me, can't remember how to get it back again. Shows you, I don't do these things too often, repeat is the way to remember, and guess I don't repeat the right things?

thanks to anyone, sounds dumb, but there it is!

A lot of keyboards now have a key you just push and e. mail comes up.

I cut back my type 3 clems in the fall, usually in November after a killing frost. Some years, like this one, before the killing frost but with frost expected and late enough to know that they will not start new growth until spring. Also treat most of my type 2s as 3s and cut them back at the same time. Edited to add: I use my aluminium hedge shears all during the gardening season. They are wonderful for cutting back, pruning, and for chopping up things for the compost pile. Put plant cuttings into the wheelbarrow or a 5-gal pail and snip, snip then into the compost pile they go. Sometimes I throw a cuttings onto the compost pile and snip them there. How do I post to my trade list ? I forgot how?

When I had seeds to trade, I posted on the Seed Exchange forum. I made sure my trade list was up-to-date. If someone was interested in trading with me, they contacted me via email. As with other gardening objectives, it makes sense to define your goals--decide how you want to trade (i, e, postage, address labels, envelopes) and put that out there on GW. List the seeds you have to trade on your trade list, then post what seed types you've got available on the Seed Exchange forum. I "shopped" for seeds on the Seed Exchange forum a couple of years until I filled my garden beds. I kept the seed exchange information (i.e., names & addresses of folks with whom I traded) on an Excel spreadsheet so I'd have it for future reference. Common sense rule of thumb is be sure you get return postage prior to mailing seeds.

The recipe I use is very similar to the first one Annie posted. The small changes in my recipe (handed down from my mother) make it so easy! My recipe calls for one bag of navy/pea beans (800 grams or about 1.5 lbs). After you soak and simmer the beans, dump the water. Recover with fresh water, add the sliced onion and all of the other ingredients (molasses, bacon, ketchup etc.) into the beans and water. Just dump and stir. I use a huge heavy enamelled cast iron pot as I double or triple the recipe as it freezes wonderfully. Cover tightly with foil and then the lid, and bake at 250 for 6-8 + hours. Stir occasionally and add water if getting dry. It is very forgiving, which is why I am not quibbling with Annie's recipe- the precise amounts don't seem to matter. These are THE best beans and my whole extended family loves them and I won't make them any other way. They are the art of simplicity and delicious! Do try!

How old is she? My 1 yo female did the same thing after her companion male cat died. I found evidence of an intestinal parasite as well and you'd think that would spur her appetite, but it had quite the opposite effect, evidently. Yes on the pate food, and add liquid to it to make a gruel. Feed in small amounts and give her an uninterrupted space and time to be with it. My female can ignore her food at the slightest distraction. But if I put her in a quiet place of the house with it and keep her confined, she seems to 'discover' it again and it's gone. She's also hideously finicky and it had to be a certain brand of pate. It's the only kind she's the least bit interested in. Cats can be finicky to distraction and it seems the longer they are off food, they harder it is to cultivate an appetite or interest in it. It's the first symptom something is amiss. She may have something going on she can't smell it. If it doesn't register to the nose, they aren't interested. I know tuna is bad for a cat as a regular diet, but it won't hurt her to try a little canned in water to see if she's even interested. It smells strong enough, it usually elicits some sort of response. You can at least tell if she's even interested in eating that way and go from there. I used a really stinky pate for my female.

Don't feel bad Shaddy, I took a course is MS Works at a vo-tech one time and the teacher said most people have to repeat something 20 times to keep it in their memory. I was told by my Sis to keep a note book on my PC and write down things like this, so I could refer back when I needed to. Just writing it down helped me remember.

Forgot to include the details, need to remember that too, Maime, your sister is a smarty, I also have been keeping those tips written down in a book, or copied from this column in their as well, but as this doesn't occur too often I didn't write it down, but surely will now, and also, wasn't there a listing here somewhere to include the details when writing about a problem, perhaps it would be wise to have that available for people like me too.
My mail program is OE, and appreciate any clues on what to do.
Not familiar with a keyboard that does those tricky things, need old ways here.

If you want to put a shortcut on your desktop, and this would include an email shortcut:

Go to your email or any other page/site that you want a shortcut to.

Copy the link

Go to your desktop

Right click on an empty spot on the desktop

In the drop down box, hover over 'New' and you'll see .. 'Shortcut'

A new window will pop up asking you to type in a location .. just Paste the url of the page that you copied earlier into the box and click 'Next'

Just follow the rest of the prompts from there.

I forgot to ask what OS you are using.

The instructions that I gave are what I use on Vista .. I'm guessing that the same holds true for other systems?

When you get to the window, on your desktop, where you are asked to add a location .. You'll also see a 'Browse' button.

You can click on that and your files/folders will open.
From there you can also add a shortcut, be-it email or any other saved item.

The instructions that I gave in my other post are typically used to make a shortcut to somewhere or something that you don't 'normally' store on your hard-drive.

In XP it's simpler..just find the application listed in Programs, right click on the application listing and then follow the fly out menu to Send To, left click on Desktop (Create Shortcut). From there you can drag it to your Quick Launch if you want. What OS?

I have XP and just tried to make a shortcut to this thread on my desktop (just for fun) and it worked as described in the post at 3:30. Thanks!

I was just reading this thread and saw something in Pam's report which may cause a little confusion.

Unless I am wrong her suggestion had to do with an entry on the Start Menu not the Programs folder on the C:/ drive. So it would be START>locate the target application entry, right-click, and so on.

If a user wanted to use the Program Folder on the C:/ drive as a portal one would open the folder> open the target application sub-folder, and then right-click on the application's .exe file.

Mostly a terminology issue as the suggestion was a good one.

Here is how I make a shortcut:

At the site you want a shortcut for, go up top right and click on the middle icon (minimize). You do this only to give you room to slide the page over a little and see your desktop. Lay your cursor over the Site Icon at the beginning of the URL and drag it to the desktop.

Works for me,

Sue_va, tried your suggestion, doesn't work for me, I drag something, just not the right thing I guess, nothing showed up, but thanks anyway, guess the old fashioned way is most time the best?

In front of the http is a green leaf. Lay the cursor over that, hold and drag to the desktop.

Sue, what I wanted was a shortcut to the email, OE, couldn't get it to work your way, must be just internet urls?
I did get the email shortcut back tho, thanks to a poster, and am so grateful.
Thanks Sue, found I learned something new, and always a good thing!
I can do it, if I just remember!
