Looking for a recipe for food processor apple cake

Hi everyone,
I hope someone can help me find this recipe, it was given to me about 30 years ago, but I recently lost it. The entire cake was made in stages in a food processor. First, you made crumbs with about 1 tblsp butter, flour, sugar and cinnamon. Then you sliced 3-4 apples and mixed them together in a bowl with the crumbs. Then you made a vanilla cake in the food processor, about 3 tblsp butter or margarine, flour, vanilla, egg (some leavening and I forgot the other few ingredients). You then poured the batter into an 8 or 9 inch square pan, and arranged the apple mixture on top and baked it. It was definitely an apple cake, but I am not sure of the recipe title (cake or kuchen).

Sound familiar to anyone?

Is this it? It's from the Cuisinart Food Processor recipes

They make the cake first, then add the apples, then make the topping, but it sounds the same.

Here is the recipe: Apple Kuchen Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Streusel Topping: In a food processor with knife blade combine: 1/2 cup flour 1/3 cup sugar 3 Tblsp. Butter, chilled, cut in 3 pieces 1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon or nutmeg (I use cinnamon) Process until crumbly, about 20 seconds. Put in a large mixing bowl. Slice 2 medium apples, cored, peeled and quartered. Add to topping and stir to coat apple slices. Cake: 1 1/2 cups flour 3/4 cup sugar 1/4 cup butter, chilled, cut into 3 pieces 1/2 cup milk 2 eggs 2 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt ( I usually use 1/2 teaspoon) 1 teaspoon vanilla With knife blade in food processor, process flour, sugar and butter until butter is cut into flour and sugar, about 15 seconds. Add remaining cake ingredients, process 5 seconds. Turn off processor, scrape down sides of bowl and process another 5 seconds. Spoon batter into a greased 9 X 9 pan ( I use a glass 8 X 8 baking dish). Neatly arrange streusel mixture on top. Bake until came is set and apples are tender, 40-45 minutes. I don't wash the food processor after making the topping, I just mix the cake ingredients in the processor after making the topping. Let me know how it comes out if any of you make it. Enjoy!

Had to say that I tryed this recipe today and it is very good! I used one cup of brown sugar and one cup of white sugar for the batter and used brown sugar in the topping. I was trying to use up some of the brown sugar I had. Also, instead of the heavy cream, I just used the skim milk I had on hand.....and it was still very good!!! A scoop of ice cream or a dollop of cool whip would be great with this too, but it really doesn't need anything extra.

I found this one today. OVERNIGHT APPLE BUTTER mixture of apple varieties, rather than just one type, will produce apple butter with rich, complex flavor in this slow cooker recipe. Good choices include Esopus Spitzenburg, Granny Smith, Jonathan, Northern Spy, Rome, Stayman, Winesap, and York. Enjoy the apple butter over toast or English muffins, or serve it with pork chops or chicken. Yield 4 cups (serving size: 1/4 cup) Ingredients 1 cup packed brown sugar 1/2 cup honey 1/4 cup apple cider 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves 1/8 teaspoon ground mace 10 medium apples, peeled, cored, and cut into large chunks (about 2 1/2 pounds) Preparation Combine all ingredients in a 5-quart electric slow cooker. Cover and cook on low 10 hours or until apples are very tender. Place a large fine-mesh sieve over a bowl; spoon one-third of apple mixture into sieve. Press mixture through sieve using the back of a spoon or ladle. Discard pulp. Repeat procedure with remaining apple mixture. Return apple mixture to slow cooker. Cook, uncovered, on high 1 1/2 hours or until mixture is thick, stirring occasionally. Spoon into a bowl; cover and chill up to a week. Stovetop variation: Combine all ingredients in a Dutch oven. Sure, here it is:

Apple Kuchen

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

In a food processor with a knife blade, process 1/2 cup flour, 1/3 cup sugar, 3 tablespoons butter, chilled and cut into 3 pieces, and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon or nutmeg until crumbly, about 20 seconds. Put into a large mixing bowl.

Slice 2 medium apples, cored, peeled and quartered. Add to the streusel and stir to coat the apples.

For the cake: in the food processor bowl with the knife blade, process 1 1/2 cups flour , 3/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup butter, chilled and cut into 3 pieces until butter is cut into the dry ingredients, about 15 seconds. Add 1/2 cup milk, 2 eggs, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt ( I usually use 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon since we don't use much salt in anything) and 1 teaspoon vanilla and process for 5 seconds; turn off processor, scrape down sides of bowl and process 5 seconds more.

Spread batter in greased 9X9 pan. Neatly arrange streusel mixture on top (I line the apples in neat rows).

Bake till cake is set and apples are tender, 40-45 minutes.

I have been making this for years, everyone loves it! Let me know if any of you try it and if you like it.

Lisa, I'd really like to try your recipe and the one linked by momj47. They both sound super easy. Since I'm not much of a dessert maker, they both sound simple enough even for me.
