yeah, I got them this morning. All installed, everything is going smoothly.

I actually got 17 updates from Microsoft. For my system, they were updates for Windows 7, Microsoft Office 2010, and MSE. Microsoft usually downloads larger numbers of updates every Tuesday, which they refer to as "Patch Tuesday". On other days you may get optional updates like I do, usually for MSE.

Patch Tuesday has historically been the second Tuesday of each month.

Depending on the O/S and installed Microsoft applications it contains system "security" updates, IE cumulative updates, and system updates (operational).

Quite often it also includes Defender updates, Active-X Kill-bit updates, e-mail filter updates, Malicious Software Removal Tool updates, etc. However, these latter updates do at times come separately and randomly.

last night I left my desktop up and this morning it had rebooted from the updates.

I continue to support notification of available updates with the required approval to install, but I continue to disagree with the automatic updates. When there are many updates installed at once there is certain to be a lot of code being moved, replaced or added. If after a bulk blind installation system concerns developed how would a user locate the culprit.

Perhaps it is a throw back to the dark ages of the DUN, but I continue to recommend updates be installed in packages of up to three or four maximum depending on size and focus. Following a short period of operational review where it can be determined all is well the next package can be created and installed.

All went in smooth. I get notified, used to do it in parts, but lately I let them all go in. Haven't had a problem...probably jinxing myself, but so far so good.
