How to fix Error 0x8007232B

Can anyone help with this error message? For a couple of weeks I've been getting this error message on Windows 7. I am still able to operate my computer; but feel like I need to get this resolved.

The message says: "Windows could not be activated" and so forth. Also, says DNS name does not exist.

I read online where it said to go to My Computer, click on system properties, then go to the bottom at the product key and click on "Change Product Key" and put that number in again, and that this may fix the problem. Does anyone know if this will work, or how to go about fixing this problem?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I see a couple of instances where the user has entered the same key and the program was activated. Seems you have little to lose and much to gain by trying that.

Curious, is this a local build or factory made computer?

did you get this pc with windows 7 installed and activated on it or did you upgrade to windows 7 from vista or something?

diane47 - I can't imagine how stressful your build was. I guess I will count our blessings since we haven't gone through anything like that. Prior to the plumbing walkthrough, based on the good advice from this forum & lots of online research, I had chosen all of my controls & fixtures. During the walkthrough, I stood in the shower with the plumber and explained where all of the outlets should be and which ports of the Thermo Balance III went to which outlets. He indicated where the steam outlet would be and it was fine for where everything else planned. Even though we asked for documentation from all of the walkthroughs, we were told that isn't how they do things and that it always turns out OK. A few months later, I saw a picture of the shower sent by our neighbor & I realized that the steam outlet had been switched to the other side and was now located where I planned to put a bench. We asked about it, at the time, and where told that change was made (without informing or coordinating with us) because of where the steam unit needed to be located in the basement. If a call had been made, at the time, we would have agreed to the change but flipped the side for the fixtures so we could sit opposite the steam outlet. DH convinced me that it was an honest mistake & we could live with it rather than make then tear out a mostly tiled shower. Last week, we went to the house & not only is there an error with the steam outlet, the ports on the Thermo Balance III are not assigned the way I wanted them (and had been assured that they were done right). The Movario handshower on a bar is to be our primary showering fixture and it is shoved into a corner rather that where I wanted so we won't have any room to move around when we shower. Also, the secondary handshower that I planned to only use as a handheld during steaming is placed so high up that I can't reach it. All in all, what had been an "I guess I can live with it rather than have the plumber take the hit for ripping it out." has turned into a shower that will not function anything like the way I planned it out. During the walkthrough, I wasn't vague or indecisive about where things went. I knew exactly what I wanted and communicated it. So to get the shower I want, I need to move the Thermo Balance III and the outlet for the Movario to the opposite wall and move the small handheld to where the the Movario is now. DH is trying to convince me to let them do a piecemeal job & I'm afraid that will break the integrity of the sealing system giving us problems down the road. I guess I'm not sure why the builder & his sub aren't responsible for this. If I had said one thing in the walkthrough and then changed my mind, then I can see where the burden is on me. But, I was detailed and explicit about how the shower should be configured. When the position of the steam outlet needed to change from where I was told it would be at the walkthrough, I needed to be informed and consulted as to whether or not that had an impact on the other items. This is my dream shower. Except for the kitchen, I don't think there is anything else in the house that I spent this much time on. I want it done right, but would be willing to compromise on ripping the whole thing out if the experts thought the end result would be OK. Thanks for the thought & advice - Jo Ann

Sometimes new roads never get put on the maps. One time while working in Pensacola,Fla I got a service call and the dispatcher told me it was a small street off of 9 mile rd just east of K-mart. I drove up and down that section of road about three times and could not locate the side street I was looking for. Finally I stopped at a little store and called the customer to inform them I couldn't find their street. The asked where I was then she laughed and said, "sit tight, i'll be right with you." About 5 minutes later a lady walked up to my pickup and asked if I was the one looking for her street? I said yes and she says, "You see that house with the back of the house facing the parking lot here? Thats my house." Then she says, "You go ahead and drive over and I will grab a couple things here at the store and meet you in about 5 minutes". I pulled back out on the road and went about 100yds, then turned down a super long driveway which had an L shape at the end and her house faced the driveway. Thats odd I thought, but its no skin off my nose if ppl want there house to face the driveway. While working on her water heater the lady told me that the builder had originally intended to build a whole development there so they put the road way in and began selling lots. She and her husband had bought the first lot and had their house built but in the mean time the builder had went to prison so they never completed any more houses. Then she told me that when they originally laid out the development the roadway into the development had been deeded to the county as public thoroughfare for the project and in fact the only portion she actually owned was the short L section from her driveway to the long roadway. She said that she and her hubby had made an agreement with the post office to put there mailbox on 9mile road so the postman wouldn't have to pull in and turn around for just one house then she said the county had been trying for years to convince her and her hubby to take possession of the roadway as their driveway, but the had repeatedly refused. I asked why they would refuse and she says, simple, as long as its a county right of way the county has to pave it and maintain it ..LOL

Thanks for the comments. Kompy -- what is weird is that half of the doors had the soft close installed, and we didn't receive any loose hardware, if the intention was for us to install the rest. The infuriating thing is that when I called my KD, she confirmed that their own QC manager noted that five cabs were missing the softclose hardware, but they did nothing about it... so they knew the hardware was missing, but didn't bother installing it, or sending the hardware loose with the rest of the order. They just waited until I complained, and then didn't want to fix the mistake. Very disappointing! It's highly unlikely that I got someone else's order, but that did cross my mind. The cabs are 99% installed, and unless someone else had a kitchen with the exact same diminensions as mine, I'm pretty sure there was no delivery mix-up.

Two ideas: (1) In Word 2013, do a File>Open>Computer and Browse to the file. Click the drop-down arrow on the Open button and select Open and Repair: (2) For the DOC file, you should be able to see the text (no formatting, of course) by simply opening the file in a text editor, such as Notepad (this doesn't work for DOCX). Owbist, the laptop is a Dell that I bought from their Website and just had things put on it that I wanted. Thanks for the comment.

ravencajun: This laptop did come with Vista and was upgraded to Windows 7.

Just a little while ago, the computer gave me a message saying: Windows must be activated today". Then it gave me an option to reenter the product key. However, the product key that I have is invalid and I do not know what the product key is that maybe came with the Windows 7, as a computer person did this updrade to Windows 7 for me as a favor. Does Windows 7 come with a different Product Key? There were no papers involved. I can get in touch with him maybe tomorrow, but in the meantime, what is going to happen to my laptop, if it says this must be done today??

Thanks again for responding. I'm using my son's laptop to send this message and am backing up everything on my laptop just in case.

Any comment on what I should do now? Sorry, I don't know that much about the operation of the laptop.

Did the person who did this for you charge you for the copy he installed? It sounds like he installed it without activating it and he may have installed a copy without having a valid license. I'd contact him to find out whether the copy he installed is legitimate.

yep sure sounds like it was not activated when it was installed or it was not done properly with a good key.

you can try to retrieve the key using this free tool and then use the key to activate it.

If this person was paid to install a legit copy of windows 7 on your pc then he is the one you really need to contact and have him make it right.

In that case, you should have a sticker with a product key.

If you don't have one, then I suspect he used a valid upgrade DVD, but he used it on enough computers that MS flagged it as a bootleg.

Typically a license is good for one PC (some are good for several PCs). If it shows up a couple of times, it's not necessarily flagged as bootleg but at some point, it reaches a point where it's clear that somebody is stealing and MS invalidates the key.

I see the messages on several forums, seems windows7 has some activation snafu & many have problems with fully legal installs suddenly asking for activation. Seems sometimes a cleaned up virus infection can start it happening too.

The reason why it catches my eye is I removed virus on a nearly new win7 laptop that had no anti-virus ... and when I went to install security essentials.. it didnt pass the genuine winsows test. Stumpped me.. I didnt have time to fiddle with it.. told her to take it back to where she bought it... have him activate it ... in asia.

Thank you all for your input. I took my laptop to the computer person and they have taken care of the problem. He reinstalled Windows 7 and Microsoft Office.

mikie: when I was trying to install security essentials, that is when I got a message stating that "Windows is not genuine".

Reading around I see the 'Security Essentials' install searches extra hard for some of the various methods that bypass the validation or genuine tests to find those non legal installs of windows.

Maybe the microsoft is using 'Security Essentials' program just to make sure Advira and Avast and others get some business ... and to cause grief to the poorer people with slow connections.
Security Essentials is under 10mb download.. others generally seem more than 40mb downloads.

You would think of all things... a virus program would/should be one thing that microsoft would want to help people with, especially the poorer areas of world ,,,, to slow down some of this contagious stuff. Why do a genuine test at all with it?
