The song itself has been around for a while--it was a #1 dance hit in europe for months (and definitely made the rounds in the clubs in North America) and months (it's by O-Zone, a Romanian pop/dance outfit, and the song is called Dragostea Din Tei). This new thing with people singing it on their webcams for the internet is pretty hilarious, though!

Just poking around in File Manager and the only icon that responds to right/click=properties is "computer". It appears MS has reduced the right click for properties as a use for all tool. I can't figure why. Slight diversion, I have started using my laptop computers as a laptop, not as desk top with remote keyboard and display. I now find that when typing, such as now, the display will suddenly transfer to another site/display. Or, the (just now it happened) I will suddenly find the typing has either stopped, or transfered to some other location on the message field. What's up, am I touching the touch pad with my hands, which are poised just above the pad? Makes me wonder if I can turn the touch pad off, and use a wireless mouse and not have trouble with interrupts springing up while I type.

Sometimes drives are finicky about the formats used to create the files it tries to read, and they get worse as they age. (sort-of like people :-) ) If this is a CD-R (not +R), see if another CD-R disk can be read by his computer. It's not alweays enough to say it can read other discs if we don't know how the others were formatted.

Basically it's safe and the right thing to do, imo. If you don't run the disk check, you would risk writing new photos to a damaged area of the drive. As long the disk's file table is not damaged, probably the worst that would happen is a few bytes or sectors have some corruption, and if you're lucky, you only have one or two damaged or irretrievable photos. If you do lose access to the drive, there are recovery tools specifically for recovering photos, namely "PhotoRec" which works very well.
