They typically slow down boot-up times, often generating errors during the boot-up process, slowing down your Internet connection, particularly if you are on dial-up rather than broadband, and the worst behaved ones install software without your knowledge, potentially creating conflicts. In the case of HPWUSCHD2 we have seen it occasionally crash on boot-up on some PCs. Most importantly, if your printer works fine and without problems, there is no need to fix what does not need fixing through the installation of the latest drivers whenever you are prompted to ! Only update your drivers when you actually have problems that need fixing - to do that, navigate to HP through our Drivers page. Delete this task immediately on the Startups tab.

well she probably does not want to switch over to linux, I love linux but not everyone is ready to make the jump yet. Betty sending the message to microsoft is nothing to worry about that is supposed to aid them in determining when one of their programs is having issues and what triggered the problem. The IE error you posted is a very common one and any number of things can cause it to happen. First do you have all of your windows updates done and up to date? Because when they find problems they do send fixes out through the updates, so make sure you have all of those. Is the error happening on one particular website or is it random and are you doing anything specific when it happens? For example playing a web based game or viewing a video etc. One of the first things to do when IE is involved is to clear your cache and cookies because they could have some bearing on how IE works. So try doing that. in IE go to tools, internet options, clear temporary internet files and cookies, you can clear history also if you wish. See if that helps. Have you thought of downloading firefox browser and using it instead of IE? It is in my opinion a much better browser and is safer. Plus you can add so many great extensions to it. In case this happens to anyone else I have ran all the normal things...virus scan, system restore, scan disc...etc etc. Finally out of frustration I just pushed the button and shut the computer off...did not do it the 'correct' way. Just pushed the power button and turned it off! Turned it back on and it is not doing it anymore. There is no rhyme or reason why it did it in the first place, much less why it stopped. Sometimes computers make me crazy!! LOL

fwiw I've run startup repair on win7 a few times. It needs to be run back to back without trying to boot into windows, or it looses count and runs the same first run repair process each time. With my laptop, when startup repair finishes and restarts the computer, then I have to push my boot from cd key quickly again or its lost that ability to count. It would tell you in the reports run once, 2x or 3x. First run is I dont remb, 30 or 40 minutes for win7. Second run is maybe just 2 minutes. Third run would be the same quick, or slighly quicker than 2nd run. And it aways says something about 'startup repair can not repair this computer automatically' I assume it says this because nothing was wrong. I just wanted my partition tables/names microsoft style after using a 3rd party tool to resize partitions.
