Thanks again, everyone! During the visit of DD and her partner, who live 3000 miles away, and with my DS joining us, we've had a lovely few days together as a family again. For my birthday, they took me to dinner at a local Afghan restaurant (I had Kabuli, a dish of stewed lamb, rice, carrots, and raisins; also had a great spiced pumpkin appetizer). Afterward, my DS invited us all to his apartment for a dessert of cannoli, macaroons, coffee, and brandy. Yesterday, we went to the art museum and came home for the spinach lasagna I had prepared. We spent another afternoon looking through old family photos. We've played a lot of board games and card games, too. We'll see them off at the airport this afternoon. What a wonderful birthday week! Thank you to each and everyone of you that took the time out from your busy lives to wish me a Happy Birthday. So appreciated. No party here or cake. Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes. I had to deal with the password thing on Houzz and I was rather busy the weekend and all day today it seems. I read each and every post and I do appreciate all of them. No, did not have a meal or a party yesterday. Just home, had a to go box for lunch from the church that youngest daughter brought me and later she and granddaughter Alyssa came with gifts and then later oldest daughter Cheryl came. Thanks, everyone, for the good wishes!

I've been enjoying the day, working on my family history scrapbook and ID'ing old photos. (Retirement means you still work all day, and you don't get paid for it, but *sometimes* you can do what you really enjoy, and that makes it all worthwhile!)

Lars, the derivation is: MT = empty (i.e., empty nester). I chose that moniker when I first joined the forums because everybody seemed to have "Mom" names in those days, but my kids were all grown up and out on their own.

Tricia, it's sunny here today but much colder than it has been--I was getting spoiled, thinking of 40's as "normal" for January. Today it's back to reality, highs in the mid-20's. I hope to get out for a walk while the sun is still shining.

Nothing special is planned for tonight's dinner, except the turkey soup I made yesterday.
