my guess is you have IE with yahoo add ons which make it yahoo centered. You can go to your control panel add remove programs and remove all that extra yahoo stuff like the toolbar etc. IE is by Microsoft no one else makes IE period, there are add ons that can be added to it but if you have IE8 you have the Microsoft IE8. Deleting the extra yahoo stuff will not affect your yahoo email at all you can still go to yahoo and sign into your yahoo mail account, you can do that from any pc anywhere. I totally agree in downloading and installing firefox or an other browser so should that one stop working you still have a way to get online. I personally use firefox, it is super easy to do just go to the download site, choose to download the windows version, it will install, in the process it will ask if you want to import your settings from IE just say yes to all and it will set up firefox exactly as you have your Ie with all your bookmarks and home page etc. It will ask if you want to make it default you can say no that can be changed any time. Then once it is done and installed anytime you want to use firefox to go online just click on the firefox icon on your desktop or tray, you can go back and forth using IE and firefox and can even use both at the same time. Firefox has a lot of great add ons for it that I love. Should you need the download link to re-install IE8 here is where to go. this is the info I have seen for IE8 http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ie/archive/2008/03/11/address-bar-improvements-in-internet-explorer-8-beta-1.aspx Inline Autocomplete: cut for IE8 Weve cut the inline autocomplete feature in the Address Bar in IE8. This option was disabled by default in IE7 and has been removed from the Address Bar in IE8. However the advanced option that controls the behavior will still exist, because other parts of Windows will still use this functionality if the user chooses to enable it just not the Address Bar. In Internet Options> Content> AutoComplete> Settings, do you have AutoComplete turned on for forms, usernames and passwords? Deleting AutoComplete data from Internet Options> Content> AutoComplete> Settings may reset AutoComplete and allow usernames, passwords and form data to be saved. You also want to make sure you do not have your browser set to automatically delete your history, cookies, temp internet files, that can affect how it is able to retain that info. using the google toolbar apparently will give you some of that functionality or using an add on like roboform there is a version of roboform free for IE you may want to read the site and see if it would work for you. RoboForm for Internet Explorer there is a good tutorial link on the site Tutorials Overview

I sometimes get that message when I have a loose connection, either with my cable modem or the Linksys router. It will clear after checking the connections and/or pushing the reset button. Just my 2 c's. Bejay

Hi everyone, This is very informative and from what I've read, it said nothing about removing IE7 and it makes sense to me that if you would remove IE7 and then put in IE8 and you didn't like it you wouldn't be able to go back to IE7 because you removed it. Hi Owbist, Do you have an external drive or second internal drive to which you create backups of your computer? If so the answer is quite simple methinks. Backup the whole computer. Install IE8 and test it. If it fails miserably, which it probably will not, then you can restore the backup and carry on as you were. If your version of IE8 is from yesteryear then use the link below and grab the latest version. Thank you for that information and thank you for the link to the download. I was thinking if the old wasn't good now, then I wouldn't want to download that one and start with a new one. Your link will be very helpful. No I don't have an external hard drive, I've looked them up but, didn't know which one was the best one to get or how large of a one I would need. I have flash drives but I don't think you could use one of those to backup a whole computer. raven, Thanks also for the xmarks link I will save that link in case I want to use that one. My problem would be trying to use it once I download it. Yes, by all means use a current link to the upgrade. DA Thank you I will do that.
