I recently ordered a CD from comedienne Jessica Kirson and finally notified her four weeks after my order that I had received nothing. She wrote back herself saying that she had mailed the CD to me and asked if sending a replacement would be satisfactory. I told her it would and that she probably has a new fan somewhere in Los Angeles, since the post office never delivered the package to me. I'll let you know if I ever actually receive the CD, but if you get a chance to see her, she's hilarious. I had also ordered some rug cleaner from a web site recommended by Diana when I wanted to get the smell of dog urine out of the carpet in my bedroom, and I initially ordered two bottles. However, they only sent me one bottle, and so I had to call to complain, and the woman in Shreveport said, "Oh, lawdy mercy, I've just hired some temporary help, and they are just not working out!" and promised to send me the second bottle. Two weeks later I still had not received the replacement, and so I sent her an email, and within a week I received the second bottle. I felt I got decent service from her, and I could sympathize with her plight as a small business owner. I do get peeved if I do not receive an order acknowledgment, but I would not expect to get a discount that was offered after I had purchased something. For me, it is not worth the bother and not really valid. However, if someone lies to me, I will cut them no slack. Fortunately, I am not going through menopause and do not require that product. Yes..right now we show over 25 varieties of hardwood. We sell to approximately 1 out of 20 hardwood recordable clients. many times they will not even allow us to quote. We have negotiated prices with all manufacturers except one that we can compete with legitimate internet stores. Many are not legitimate and not recognized at all by the manufacturer. We discount them as they are not recognized as 1st quality. We had a manufacturer in today demanding a change or we will be throwing out there display which I paid 2000 dollars for in January. The internet is selling it for just below my cost and offering free shipping. I was assured today that if a consumer buys on the internet for that company the consumer will get zero customer service should there ever be an issue, but internet buying customers wont believe that Until they get burnt. This sounds terrible but I cant wait til one of these customers have the gall to ask us to look at an issue when it was purchased through the internet after they used my gallery as a window shopping testimonial.When this stuff is shipped common carrier, there are problems and lots of them. If the consumer would just give a retailer the opportunity to try to match the deal. If it is cash and carry, and you are paid up front, there is no such thing as a bad profit. We will run as little as a 15 margin on cash and carry internet competition. It will change some day or all they will be looking at is Lowes and HD samples and they will be private labeled. then they will not be able to shop it. many retailers are just too stupid to fight the manufacturers against the internet. I will fight it with manufacturers until the day I die. I just want to be able to compete with it...but a regular consumer wont even give us a chance. Just my 2 cents.

If you can do the carcases, I think you should be able to do the face frames. The wood suppliers I use most often sell "cabinet facing" stock. This is s4s stock ripped to spec - 1 by 2, 2.5, 3, whatever you want. Next you need to just be able to accurately measure and cut a square cross cut. A miter saw, even one in a simple wood miter box should be able to do this. There are several simple joinery techniques, aided by some jigs of varying costs: - A pocket hole jig. You can get simple one and two hole Kreg models for $20 - 40. - A biscuit joiner that allows you to do FF (face frame) sized biscuits (the Porter Cable model). This will also help you with the carcase construction. Quite a bit more expensive, but handy to have. - A twin hole dowel jig, available at a variety of prices - The simple model "Bead Lock" jig. This is a jig that drills a series of overlapping holes and you use their stock to create a free tenon. You can also use this model to do double dowel holes. The first two allow you to have some lateral adjustment up until the last minute, making fitting inset doors a little easier. The latter two work well, but you have to be more precise during your marking and set up. I've used all of these regularly and make what I call "quick and easy" joints. For a good reference on kitchen cabinets, I recommend Jere Cary's "Make Your Own Kitchen Cabinets." There's a chapter on each major component, construction options and techniques, and how to resolve problems.

Jerri's long post is describing a legal technique, and a widely used and accepted one, used to create reasonable doubt. It makes sense to do that in a criminal case where a defendant is not trying to prove anything, but rather is solely trying to make it impossible for a prosecutor to meet the burden of proof. It works because you're essentially saying: Look, there is reasonable doubt b/c Joe could have killed Sally There's also reasonable doubt b/c maybe Sally wasn't even killed at all but committed suicide. Or, look, maybe Tim killed Sally This is effective as a criminal defense strategy, which is called arguing in the alternative, only because the point isn't for the defense to prove any of those things. The defense presents several alternative theories of what may have happened (even if those things are mutually exclusive and could not have all happened) so a prosecutor must disprove all theories in order to meet the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. It has little utility in any other context, unless you are trying to introduce doubt as to whether someone else's version of events is true. The media can and does try to control the narrative by choosing what facts to report and by emphasizing different things depending on context (e.g. if there is a scandal involving a democrat, the focus is on "republicans "pounce" or overreach on random-politician-whose-party-shall-not-be-named-until-paragaph-20 kicking puppies" or "horrible leak revealing democrats kick puppies is a horrible leak and we must root out the leaker" whereas if a scandal involves a republican, the focus is "all republicans kick puppies because this random unknown state senator does." or "brave whistleblower reveals republicans kick puppies") ... but, despite clear and undeniable media bias, a fact is still a fact is still a fact.
