Trivial question -Facebook - "do you know .... "

I have never joined or used Facebook.

Starting about three days ago I began receiving many "do you know .... " subject lines from Facebook.

Just curious. What do you suppose triggered this new pattern?

I don't know but when my step daughter joined I started getting invitations to join. She gave them my email address, I was a little upset with her. It was my family/master account. Maybe someone you know did that to you.

Could also be phishing emails. I used to get some before I ever joined. If so I think you can send them to spoof@facebook.com to report them. I just joined face book a few months ago after resisting but I have every thing blocked as I only wanted to play my slot games from the one casino gaming company and so far so good. No one tries to contact me or anything. I have nothing against using it that way but I would just rather people email me if they want to send me photos or tell me something. Mary

Depending on how you define the words it could be considered physiological and genetic. The cells have to actually fuse together and even have limited genetic transfer at the graft location. People frequently try to graft unrelated plants and sometimes succeed. Grafts between same-species plants is often possible. Grafts between different genera in the same genus is not uncommon. Grafts of plants from different genera are somewhat uncommon, but have been successful in some cases. I think the inquiry would be fine for the proper venue at school, but I'd probably ask something more akin to, "Can you explain what specifically cases some plants to be able to be grafted together but some not able to be successfully joined?" You might also ask about why some types of grafts can be successful initially, but then fail later on. It would be cool if you came back and discussed the answers you got, if you decide to ask.

I don't support having to shut down the AV particularly when notified to do so by a pop-up. Too many bad things can happen. I have for years upgraded versions of Adobe Shockwave and both Flash Players (IE and non-IE), and never had to shut down my AV. There have been several Flash upgrades recently in a short period of time, and a new Release Candidate for IE v10.3.181.5 is now being offered. I can only warn, if you get any popup telling you to turn off your AV regardless of the focus application don't. Research the offering by going to the manufacturer's homepage or a trusted download site, CNET, Filehippo, Major Geeks just to name a few. Finally, after doing your homework, and if you still have doubt come here. Again, when it comes to turning off your AV you cannot ever be overly cautious. DA

When I go to Winter Sowing in the upper left the link to "Other Forums" is red. When I go to Computer Help, or any other forums I have tried, in the upper left the link to "Other Forums" is magenta. If you have never used "Other Forums" you should see something else, blue perhaps. Some Firefox >tools>options>colors settings might make for different colors but Firefox has no place to treat Winter Sowing differently insofar as I can find. VBG There are some other places where the colors are different and like I say in the subject line it is trivial.

OK, I upgraded to Firefox 3.X This changed the Edit drop down a bit but I can still get to "Highlight all" in the bar at the bottom of the screen. The "Highlight all" box will toggle on and off, it just don't highlight anything. The spouse is set up as a user on my computer. I switched to her user and "Highlight all" highlights with the yellow just as bob describes above. So it is just the one user on this one machine where "Highlight all" won't work. Curious huh?

I have been getting a "friends wants to be your friend" or similar for a long time now so I simply blocked them. No more hassle.

I'm not a facebooker either but have gotten invitations over the years. I 'think' they were maybe often from a GW member, but since I didn't know the GW member's 'real name' I couldn't even say if I knew them or not.

I ended up using the Hotmail Options
and then more options
and then safe and blocked senders
and then blocked Blocked Senders
and added @facebookmail.com to the blocked list.

Voila...no more of them to mess with.
