My daughter's first dance

She is 12 and this is her first dress up dance.

She is growing up so quickly...

LOL! Yes, Linda the containers are outside :D Most of snow is melted and or melting away except some of the big drifts left over from the 3 snow storms back to back and the result of plowers! Our temperatures have been in the 40's by day and 30's at night. It rained all last night thru this very early morning. By Friday we will probably hit 50! I've had windows open almost every afternoon now for a good week :D The daffodils have been pushing up for a bout 2 weeks, but no sign of crocus yet. Clumps of Snapdragon 'Black Prince' and still looking good at the base and the Blue Flax, grasses and Bergenia are a pretty contrast to the drab surrounding! I have also found a gazillion or so self-sown Viola, Nigella, Larkspur and Lunaria. As for where I've been I got deep involved for the last 2 months in some new genealogy finds and also doing tons of volunteer lookups. Vera

Your Dance with Me looks a lot better than mine. My DH ran mine over with the lawn mower when it was first coming out of the ground. So it looks all shreaded. Lesson learned. I now have a rock barrier in front of that hosta bed!!

my DH and I thought that the first dance should really spring from our own relationship somehow. We didn't have an "our song," so I asked DH to pick one that he liked, that meant something to him somehow. he picked Bruce Springsteen's, "All the Heaven Will Allow." It made me cry. Then the band his dad hired (good for Yugoslavian ballroom dancing, lousy lousy for all the rock 'n' roll type stuff) BUTCHERED it! It was awful to dance to. I was so MAD! Then, we saw the video someone had taken, a few weeks later, and I laughed SO hard I literally fell out of my chair onto the floor. My stomach was cramping up so hard with laughing, I couldn't straighten up.

What a beauty! (Like her mom.) Wait a few years, and compare your photos... wow! I hope she had a wonderful time. We need the post dance report!

It's still odd for me to see my baby girl in heels!

Oh Sharon, I love that picture of you! The pose is so classic, as are the pearls and everything else. I can't be sure, but it sure looks like a smile is trying to escape from your very proper expression.

Phoebe (my dd) hasn't had her dance yet. It is Friday night. She just wanted to model the dress for me. (again). I will post post dance pics.

(All the girls are wearing strappy sandals to their dances this year -- don't their feet get COLD?)

She is a pretty little thing, Jojoco. Gosh, I didn't know they had dances when they were that young. Seems like every generation our littlun's grow up faster. Is she a 6th grader? Cme to think of it, it just seems like maybe I did have a dance in 6th grade.
Anyway, enough rambling. Your daughter is an absolute doll, and looks so cute and so grown up in that outfit.

Jo, she's beautiful! Looking forward to hearing about the dance! Do they have it at the school? My daughter's first dance was in 6th grade, in the gym, decorated by the 6th grade parents, and catered with kid friendly food!

Annie and Renee, around here they wear the open toes year round, through the snow! Mine is 13, nothing bothers her, have to yell for her to take her coat!

Oh Jo what a sweetheart, they grow up so fast. Seems like yesterday Meredith was going to her first dance and now she in 4th year university....wish we could put them in a bottle and keep them little forever. Oh wait that means they live here for ever......I take it all back!

Jo, she looks so sweet...and sooooo young. Sharon, you too look like a young innocent (I"m sure I'm mistaken about that. tho ..hehehe)

And the shoes -Open toes, no stockings, all year round in all weather!!! We've become our own mothers!
