Trick or Treat with Scooby Doo and the frog.

Of course I took costume pictures. Sheesh, what kind of UmmMa do you think I am, anyway? LOL

Some little trick or treaters showed up at my door. Amanda took on the candy distribution chores while I took pictures of ScoobyDoo and the BudKaiser Frog.

And, for good measure (remember, no one actually SAW this in person except Ashley, LOL), here's my costume:

OK, as barnmom said, it has a certain "tawdry appeal". Actually, it was a bet with Ashley who did not believe I could wear HER costume from last year's Beauty and the Beast. However, I bought the costume and knew it was "one size fits all". (snicker) She had to scrub the bathroom because she lost the bet.

Maybe I should, Gina. One of the deputies today told me that if I put my picture on the internet I could "stretch" it until I looked really tall and thin and then I'd look good enough to get a date. Ahem. Even though he was armed, he ran right after that.

Oh Marda, Mary Janes were my favorite! We did seem to get a lot of them. Smiles. They aren't nougat though, they're molasses taffy with a smidge of peanut butter in them. The funny thing is that little bit of peanut butter seems to be really good, not overprocessed peanut butter. More like just a nice half ground up peanut. Good stuff. I liked them so much that when I became an adult I started making molasses taffy. Haven't made it in quite a few years, but I'm really hankering for some now. We still find Mary Janes around occasionally. We did have one house, the rich house, smiles, that gave out regular size Milky Ways or... a nickel. I don't like Milky Ways so I opted for the nickel. Sweet people and how nice to offer an option. LOL Anneliese, tis true.

I have such a terrible slug problem that along with sluggo I've resigned myself to donning vinyl nursing gloves and going slug-picking several times per day and night. Sluggo gets the little ones and my gloves fingers pluck the bigger ones. Hundreds per day. I line a juice pitcher with 2 plastic bags and double-bag the slugs, put into an empty used bird food bag and deposit in trash. Only drawback is the stench of mass amounts of dead slugs decomposing in the trash. They really do stink. Cool weather eventually will help with that. Beer works as a trap attractant but I'd go broke buying enough beer. Have oodles of cottage stone retaining walls which slugs love as condominiums. They come slithering out the cracks at all hours. Last winter even when it was below freezing they came out to munch. Wish I had neighbors with flocks of geese that would appreciate the "treat."

Greetings royal participants. And my thanks go out to Leann who has me all decked out for a Queeny Halloweeny just in time, mind you. I now have my kitchen sink shelf adorned with a shaker/snowball cat and pumpkin decoration, bejewelled spider champagne glass LOL! Orange and black candles aplenty, a pumpkin container that came filled with allium (I love allium!) A black dragonfly plant poker, spider rings (tempted to wear them to work tomorrow LOL) garden gloves which are indispensible, a wonderful and welcome kitchen towel in herbal design, tiny windchimes which I adore, crocus chrysantus in purple and yellow- always welcome for cheerful Springs, a wonderful small 16 month calendar which will be in the garage for my memos on gardening tasks and my new 2 yr pocket planner for work- I was just panicking that I'm only a month away from needing a new one and POOF there it is complete with adorable puppies on it! Perfect. LeeAnn you have made this Queen rich with gratitude for your wonderful holiday box and bountiful treasures. And let's not forget to mention the bag of assorted Hershey's Nuggets, except if the hubby is around..... Have a royal and Happy Halloween all and my thanks to LeeAnn for a wonderful set of surprises so welcome on these cold, wet gardening days.

Here's nature at it's best Alaskan style. Bald eagle...beautiful noble bird of prey, perches on the top of a huge old fir tree just a little ways outside of our bedroom window. The first year I was here I thought "oh my goodness how wonderful". Then we have the loons. Loons mate for life so we have the same pair return to us annually (cooincidentially the same weekend as my neighbors but they claim not to be related). These aren't common loons that make that beautiful "Beyond golden pond" song noise...these are elegant and beautiful Arctic Loons, who's romantic song sounds like two tom cats fighting over a female. And our loons are big lovers so we hear this cacophany of love at full volume every single night until they produce an egg, then a chick. Baby Arctic Loons are somewhat rare and definately so in the city, and a treat to behold. They next right next to our house (the "loon cam" is normally mounted in our yard by the wildlife freaks...with our permission...we like some freaks). Anyhoo, every year we get to see the baby hatch and we protect it from canoers who get too close and every single freaking that dang Eagle sweeps down within the first week of the poor chicks life and carrys it away screaming to it's death (yes literally screaming to it's death). I hate that dang eagle... Umm what were we talking about? heh heh

Yeah, I went trick or treating all right, and I won't tell you whose step I ended up on. LOL It will suffice to say that he wasn't home. Poor sap, he doesn't even know what he missed...

Ah Annie, what lovely eyes Makayla has. She reminds me of one of Dick's gd's who gets silly grins, but in repose is a knockout. She's about the same age 3+ ? yes?

And may the step you end up on next year have an open door and a warm bed etal... I do not mean your house. ;-)
