Thought I would come back and update. Well, in the end, I decided to go with the Apple. :-) There were so many reasons I wanted to get one and quite a few reasons I didn't want to get another windows machine. Two of the issues that were keeping me from getting the Apple resolved at the last minute and I was very happy to see no obstacles to getting it. I have had a MacBookPro for two weeks now and loving it! Almost have everything moved over from the old computer and Monday got the new printer installed and connected. Tech support has been great as expected. There have been some issues with changing over from the windows system to the Mac. I was using MS Works on the old Dell and converting those to iWorks was not straightforward although in the end most of that is done. Going from MS Office is easier. Changing over from Windows Media Player to iTunes...if you are importing your music to WMPlayer in the wma format, well, come to find out it is a proprietary format to Windows and it is not easy to switch over to mp3 that will allow the iTunes to play it. I had to convert 800 songs to mp3 before moving it to the Apple which was not so great. Time consuming. Had to download four programs on Tuesday and only one of them actually made the conversion. Plus converting the files does lower the quality some. So, I am planning on getting as much off of CDs to replace them as I can, but they are fine for the time being. Just for your information, you can set your WindowsMediaPlayer to import into it in the mp3 format and that will make your life so much easier if/when you want to move them or use another player. Photos were a breeze to move and using iPhoto is just a treat! Such an improvement over my previous photo software for organizing photos. I have never used Photoshop software, so maybe that is as good at organizing as the iPhoto? I do plan on trying photoshop at some point. So that's my story. :-) Jane, I hope you have made the change over to whatever you liked the most and have a new machine that you are happy with. :-)

The desktop probably has a wired network card that is currently connected to the DSL Modem (GT701). Disconnect that. The GT701 hooks up to the phone line. The TEW-633GR connects to the GT701 by a network cable. Connect the WAN port on the TEW-633GR to the connection on the GT701 where the desktop used to connect. Connect the desktop to one of the LAN ports on the TEW-633GR. There should be some sort of setup for the TEW-633GR. I don't know the exact steps you'll need to take, but there's probably a setup routine in the manual you can follow. I would suggest that you do the following: Change the SSID on the TEW-633GR Change the admin password on the TEW-633GR (and make a note of it) Set up the TEW-633GR to use encryption, preferably WPA set up the wireless on the laptop to use the same WPA settings as the TEW-633GR I've done this a lot, so some of these things seem simple to me and I've probably skipped steps. If you need more details, post back here and let us know.

Lea, The SSD Drive on that Laptop is only 16gb. The SSD Drive is the Hard Drive (Storage Space). Memory is a totally different thing (RAM Random Access Memory). Your computer uses RAM when your doing things on the computer. Once you turn the computer off, the RAM dumps whatever you were working on (this is why you should Save your Projects before shutting it down). A Hard Drive (in your case an SSD Drive) is where that information would be saved. I believe the Specs I looked at showed you had 4gb RAM, that should be okay for now. The SSD Drive was only 16gb, which you could burn thru quickly. Some, but not all computers can be upgraded easily (not sure about yours). It could be a possibility the SSD Drive could be upgraded to a larger SSD Drive. I would advise you have this done at a computer shop if you've never done anything like this before. Sounds like you can use 100gb of Cloud Space for Free for the first 2 years. After the 2 years there will most likely be a small fee to use the space. Each Cloud is different and may charge a little differently. You could save a lot of stuff in this Cloud Space, Pictures, Videos, Music, Movies, etc... As for the SD Slot, I believe the Specs I looked at showed this computer has an SD Slot. Check around the edges of the Laptop, most have a Mock SD Card in the Slot that needs to be removed for use (keeps the Dirt Out). After using the SD Drive I'd reinsert the Mock SD Card for safety. You can put his photos on a USB Flash Drive and view them any time you want by plugging the USB Flash Drive into an open USB Port. Storage is all up to you. You can: Increase the SSD Drive Size Use the 100gb Cloud Space Use an SD Card Use a USB Flash Drive This is where I can't help you a lot. I'm not sure how you access Files and Folders on the Chrome OS. I'm sure there has to be an APP for Viewing Files and Folders (you may have to be downloaded the APP, not sure). I did find out that I can Download and Install the Chrome OS on any computer for Free. I may do this in the future (gotta' find some free time) just so I'm able the help Chrome Users better! I've never used the Chrome OS and have never worked on a Chromebook Computer (yet).
