Bookmarks situation in Firefox

Somehow I managed to click on something that put my Bookmarks list on a menu along the left side of my screen. I don't want it there, but I can't find an x or the word close or any other way to get rid of it. Can someone tell me how to do it?

Just above the bookmark list you should see Search and a search box.
Above that you should see Bookmarks and to the right of it there should be an X. Just X it out there.

Got it, Sue. Thanks so much. I knew there had to be an easy way to do it. My problem was that I have a very colorful Persona along the top of my Firefox screen, and that little x had just disappeared from sight in all those colors!

I lost 'spell check' years ago on Firefox. I could not get it back and it disappeared on all my computers (XP and Win 7). Never could find the solution and tried the various fixes FF offers. It sounds like your "Add-Ons" dialog box launched on the 'Get Add-Ons' tab. Did you check Extensions or Plug-Ins? That should also be listed on the Sidebar.

Never mind. I found that the toolbar was still listed under add ons. Got rid of it there also and now the text is back to where it was. I hate those little things they add into free programs. Why do I always fall for free. upnflyin

You're welcome. Yeah, I think I've had to search for settings they've stashed away in about:config a couple times myself. Tabs-on-top and/or a new download dialog method, or lack of, something like that, I don't remember right now. I try to stay up to date for security... but tweak to suit "me". :)
