Sounds interesting--and unusual. I ordered Patti Smith's book, and then Amazon informed me that I already had it on my Kindle. Guess I should pay more attention. :-) So then I bought Clara's War. I thought about getting one of Lisa Randall's books on the universe, but I didn't want to have to think that hard. Maybe another time.

I registered my mother's kindle as my second so she can read anything I have bought. I thought that was cool until my family chipped in and bought her an ipad for her 91st birthday. Once I put the kindle app on the ipad, she not only gets all my books, but she sees the covers which she has found very helpful. There was quite a learning curve, but the ipad is the best gift she ever received. She subscribes to a couple of newspapers (very helpful now that right wrist is in a cast), views her favorite news shows and my sister gave her netflix. She watched all of Damages and is annoyed new season isn't available yet and watched all of Doc Martin, etc.

The second of two steps that suzieque posted, regarding removing books from your Kindle: "2) then go to Amazon.com on your computer and find "Manage Your Kindle". That'll show everything you've downloaded. Find the book you want to delete and on the right hand side under "Actions", click delete." I don't have an issue with suzieque's first step in the process, but I personally disagree with this second step. If your goal is to remove the book from your Kindle device to free up space (or for any other reason), all you need to do is step 1. What's the harm in leaving the book in your Kindle items in your Amazon account??? You have one heck of a huge amount of storage space in the Amazon cloud; and should you ever want to read the book again, or check something in it, etc., you can do that as long as it's in your account. Yes, if it's not in your Amazon account you can still download it again as long as Amazon still has it available; but even if it's available it might not be free at that time. An example: a book I downloaded for free in January of last year is Unbillable Hours: A True Story. I thought it was great, and told my husband (who is an attorney) that he should download it to his Kindle, too. But, it was $11.99 when he went to download it, so he passed on that and he read it on my Kindle. I just looked up the book on Amazon, and today the Kindle price is $8.99. So, I never delete any of my downloads from my account on Amazon. ~*~*~*~ When I bought the book: Here it is today:

I pick up at least one free book a day from Amazon. I get the 3 email lists with all the great deals and freebies daily. Pixelofink.com, bookbub.com, and bookgorilla.com. So many wonderful free books offered daily. I have the kindle app on all of my devices which allows me to read any kindle books, but I can also read other formats like epub with my other reader apps like aldiko, there are free lists for those also out there. Today there are another 2 of the J.A. Konrath series for free and one for 99c. I now have just about that entire series by picking them up every time one was on for free. The main character is a woman detective, her name is Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels which is why the names of the books are all drink names.
