Jenn Air French Door Refrigerator

I am looking at the Jenn Air French Door refrigerator with the oiled bronze finish. I really like the finish and think it would look very rich in my tuscan inspired kitchen. Has anyone ever seen this finish in real life and do you think it would smudge a lot. I have three children. Also it is model # JFC2089HPR does anyone have a model JFC2089 and can share their experience with this particular refrigerator?

That Jenn-Air's 20 cu. ft. seems very small for a family with 3 children. Will it be your only fridge, or will you have another one in the basement or something?

Why don't you build the fridge in with cabinetry instead? It's a far more integrated look, and unless your style is extremely modern, a fully wrapped stainless fridge doesn't exactly aesthetically fit most kitchens as well as one treated with cabinet side panels.

We strongly considered that fridge, the floating glass black one with the stainless handles. It's drop-dead gorgeous. But we ultimately went with a GE profile CD FD because the Jenn-Air and its clones just seemed to be poorly built inside. Racks didn't glide smoothly, nothing seemed as solid as it should. I have to say, though, that the GE in little more than a year has cracked several bins. The cover over the inside ice maker keeps falling off. It's aggravating, as much as these things cost I'd think the quality should be better than it is.

Jenn Air - made by Maytag - not a good choice today - quality getting poor. Viking versus JennAir CD French Door refrigerator

my understanding is that the viking is the Jenn Air with a different door and a viking name badge. (which retail makes it more expensive). I understood these were made in the same factory? we went with the Jenn air because it was much cheaper (retail)--but if the viking is cheaper in the outlet I think I might consider that?? FWIW we have had our jenn air side by side (71" high) for 2 years with no issues.

The designer I'm working with really wants me to get a counter depth fridge. The one I have now is standard depth, it is beside a built in desk and doesn't stick out that much. I don't think the depth is a big issue. The major issue my current fridge is white. In my kitchen with golden faux finished walls, cherry cabinets and soapstone countertops, it sticks out. It is like the last hang over from my previous kitchen.

To answer your original question, I am going to keep my old refrigerator in the pantry where I have a freezer now and move the freezer to the basement. But I haven't ruled out getting a bigger refrigerator but I would have to give up the cool oiled bronze finnish to do that. I would go either with black or a satin stainless steel that didn't smudge then.

My friend just got the same refrigerator with the white glass panels. It looks beautiful but I'm not enamoured with the operation of the french doors. If the right door is closed and the left is open, the left door takes some effort to close. If you casually fling it with just a little momentum, like how you would normally close a refrigerator door, it won't close all the way.
I haven't played with other french doors so I can't compare their functionality with other marques.

You just have to remember to close the left-hand door first.

I have seen the refrigerator a couple of times and it is beautiful. And I'm a devotee to stainless steel.

However, as someone else pointed out, its interior is small, especially for the money.

I went and looked at a stainless steel version today and decided it is not for me. (even though I love that oil bronzed finish) It seemed too small on top. Also the freezer drawers seemed cheap. When I pulled out the top inner drawer just made of wire it almost went out of the track and just didn't travel in and out smoothly. I also looked at the Viking and it appears to be the same exact fridge just a little different on the outside. I think a Kitchen Aid model was a match, too.
