Laptop help

i have a Dell laptop, several months old. Just recently, I have started having problems opening up certain websites, links, etc that I have been able to open in the past without any problem. For example, I can't open and run some newsclips, videos, attachments that friends might send via email, etc. I have no parental controls on my computer, nor are any of these sites I want to look at questionable. Someone sent me an animated Christmas ecard which I cannot open, as another example.

Here is what happens: When I click on the site, link or whatever I want to open, a little right hand comes up with a pop noise. At the bottom right of this little hand there is a yellow 'explosion' that is outlined in red. It looks like there might also be a red '!' exclamation point inside the yellow explosion mark. Sorry, but that is the best way to describe it. Can anyone help out here? I am not particularly computer savvy...and a bit dangerous around electrical equipment so I hope there is a quick fix!

I miss watching the AP newsclips, so would appreciate any advice!!

Thanks
