i ordered the fridge, dishwasher and convection microwave for my kitchen remodel. the cabinet guys screwed up the cabinet for the microwave, so i ended up w/ a thermador MCES instead. i'm happy w/ the fridge,i especially like the refrigerator, but the freezer is a bit small. filtered water for dispenser and ice maker is welcomed here. but after a week the latch on the dishwasher wouldn't function. today it was replaced with the newly improved latch. apparently this has been a problem with the kude40 line. i will say it does a good job on dishes (i've had it full of dirty dishes for 2 weeks and ran it this afternoon..spotless everything).soooo...if you go this route, make sure they install the upgraded latch. do you intend to use the microwave as your range hood? (300 cfm seems a bit anemic for a 60,000 btu cooking surface) nice touch having a warming drawer though.

When you say "your building won't allow a venthood", I think what is actually the rule is that your building won't allow you to exhaust to the outside. In other words, you CAN have a recirculating hood. It's not that the building rules are that you must have an OTR MW, but that you must not have something that needs to vent to the outside. My advice is to get a proper 36" hood over your 36" cooktop, and have the hood be a recirculating style hood. Especially given the powerful Wolf cooktop you are contemplating. The problem with any so-called "36" OTR MW", like the models Joboxes cited, is that (A) they are really 30" MW's with stuck-on "wings" to get them to be 36" wide, (B) consequently, they look ugly/strange, and (C) also consequently, you won't get any kind of exhaust function at all. Even a 30" MW over a 30" cooktop doesn't do much because there is very little capture area other than a couple of squares toward the back. And with the 36" OTR MW setup you are envisioning, you will get no exhaust over the front burners AND no exhaust over the sides. This setup would not be a good use of your money, throwing it away actually. You may as well spend that money elsewhere and just open a window to vent for all the help a 36" OTR MW over that Wolf cooktop is going to give you. There have been a number of discussions on this forum about recirculating hoods. You will be much happier, and it will look slick too. Really, if you are going to be spending all this money, plus the stress, of a kitchen re-do, you should not get a 36" OTR MW over that excellent Wolf cooktop. I was initially thinking 27 inch oven, not 30. And i am still not convinced I need 36 inch range instead of 36 rangetop and 2 smaller ovens, but I do want to keep gas oven. Appliance stores in my area tried to persuade me against 24 or 27 saying people here expect 30 and that if it ever needed to be replaced, it would be difficult to find another "specialty size." Don't know how much of that is true... I tend to be cynical about what sales people say. (Ok, maybe i'm cynical about everything!) When I asked about speed ovens I was told they are best for small kitchens without space for separate microwave. I don't know alot about the speed oven - from your post, it sounds like it be used as conventional oven only. is there any real advantage over 24 inch non speed oven other than cooking time? I looked at BS range today and am curious if you like oven on it. I have read a lot of great reviews about burners/rangetop, but not as many about oven performance

Appliance dealer and the guy they sent knew everything about every appliance. He gave tips about using the GE Monogram oven and GE Monogram induction cooktop, the Miele dishwasher and the F/P dishwasher drawer. He even came back on the weekend when we discovered during the installation that the electrician had not wired properly for the induction cooktop and the installation had to be delayed until the electrician fixed the wiring. I know we probably lucked into a real gem but in general I would go with someone who did this every day for a living rather than someone who did this as part of a larger and more diversified job. HTH.
