Annie, I saw your post on WFD so came to check out Copenhagen...well, Bachelor #2 as well. lol

I have a big smile on my face. I'm excited & happy for you. Me thinks that spring & love are in the air??? :)

Have a great summer!

Tricia
PS Cope is BEAUTIFUL.

OHMYGOSH - I'm in love!! (and Elery's cute too!!!). That horse is so gorgeous, and he actually let a stranger ride him with no problems. What a good boy he is! Annie, Elery sounds like a keeper. After all, how many guys would get up on 1200 pounds of unknown horse flesh for a girl they've only known for a few weeks, AND meet her dad, AND give her a copper "egg white beating" bowl????

Oh yeah, he's good, really good. But Copenhagen is MAGNIFICENT. Ashley sounds like she's got the situation sized up pretty good.

You enjoy yourself and have fun!:-)
DONNA

You mean your DAD likes him? and your horse likes him? and Ashley likes him? Put that information together with his knack for choosing the perfect gift for a woman and he's even handsome and we're pretty sure he's not an axe murderer - sounds terrific. Enjoy!

Bachelor number 2 had my vote the whole time! I'm rooting for Elery, he's a keeper!

Nice beef!

I was reading WFD and just had to come peek at the fresh meat...oh wait...that was fresh beef. Ummm, yeah, that's what I meant.

Annie, He's adorable!

Yeah, yeah, RR, I knew what you meant. (grin) Yes, he's pretty cute, isn't he? Dad did tell him he'd have to learn to keep up if he was going to hang around with me, LOL, but other than that, Dad behaved himself.

Donna, don't be impressed that Copenhagen was a good boy, here are the two riders that rode before Elery. Elery said he didn't know how he could possibly be apprehensive riding after them:

Annie

What Woodie said! And your grandchildren are so precious. They look a lot like you Annie :-) Have fun with Elery...you certainly deserve it.

What a fun happy post! Those kids are so cute! And Bachelor Number 2 sounds so sweet.A Copper pot! He gets it!
Sweet is good:)

Just checking in to see what other comments about the beef and beefcake :-)

You mean your DAD behaved himself? I can hardly believe that, LOL.

Debbie, those aren't Annie's grandchildren - I'm guessing grand neice and nephew maybe? I do think that little boy looks like Annie!

Well, I am impressed! Oh and the calves are cute too! hehe

Annie, you GO girl!

Linda

Oh no, those children aren't even related to me. When I saddle Copenhagen every kid in the neighborhood gravitates to my gate. LOL Those are the neighbor's kids, it's the first time they rode because they're the youngest in the neighborhood. I took pictures at their Dad's request so their very pregnant mother could have the photos, he didn't want to make her walk across the pasture with a camera. Oh, and the Dad rode too!

So, Elery not only got to meet my family, he got to meet 11 (yup, eleven) children, including my much bigger great-niece and nephews, all lined up for a ride on Cope. I oughta start charging for the "horsie rides"!

Annie

Oh Annie, you're too much! It sounds like Elery is a great catch and doesn't scare off easily! You go girl!

When I first read this:

"For those inquiring minds, I just spent a couple of days with Bachelor #2, Elery. Ashley says I should keep this one. He is sweet and kind, smart and funny. I liked him a lot and he put up with my nonsense."

and saw that first picture, I thought you were talking about keeping one of the COWS and not sending him off to slaughter because "this one" was smart, kind, sweet, and funny.... Woops! Then I saw pic number two and remembered that this was the same guy from the lunch date! :o) So glad things are going well! Beautiful horse and cows. Elery (who may also be called beef as in beefcake/hunk of man if you think it applies) isn't half bad either! :o) I've never heard the name Elery before, but I like it.

So did your dad hide the laser pointer (or does it still need batteries, which I will be HAPPY to supply)?

We want more pictures. And you know what we want to see (yeah, that bowl, ahem).

Annie,

I think a true test of his character will be to introduce him to Miss Evil Jessica, while she's wearing her "I'm Evil" T-shirt. Let her work him over, ask him all the questions which need to be asked, and if he survives, then we know he's a keeper. Sort of a trial by fire, if you will.

Jessy, it's a copper "beating" bowl, can't we have fun with that??????

Annie, please don't run away - no - come back!!!!!
DONNA

He looks like the perfect match Annie and he also looks great riding Copenhagen!

Yup, I think you've got yourself and really good one this time.

Do keep us informed as we're all very interested!

And show us photos of that bowl too please LOL.

SharonCb

I totally missed Bachelor #1, but this guy looks like a good bet.

I wish I could have a horse.

LOL Bobbie, as my husband would say " poor guy doesn't stand a chance once these broads have made up their minds!" LOL

Annie he looks and sounds like a great guy. I have great faith in your judgment and know that you will do what's right for you. It's great being a lady that doesn't "need" a man 'cause that is so liberating. Enjoy!!!

I have to disagree with Donna. We're just trying to scare the guy, not kill him.

AB, whaddya mean "he put up with your nonsense?" Did you tie him up to the back of the Jeep and take him sand drag racing with the top down...on the Jeep, that is. And if so, got any pictures?

Like Bobby, I also like his name, Elery, which is German and it means cheerful. And it looks like the name fits.

Sol

Donna, he very well may get to meet Jessica, LOL. His oldest son lives in California and is adopting a 19 month old boy from Russia. Elery will have to go to California "sometime this year" to meet the new grandson. Do you think I should send him to meet Jessica?

Jessica, if you send batteries for that damned thing, I'll personally come to California and break your fingers. LOL Hey, maybe when Elery goes to visit....nah, he's too peaceful, he'd never fight back.

Chase, you're right, and he knows that you all are "critiqueing" him. (snicker) He's a really good sport about it, though, and no, I don't NEED anyone. If I decide to keep him around it's because I enjoy being with him, not because I need to be with anyone at all.

No Sol, I never took the top off. Not off the Jeep either. Ahem. By my nonsense I mean dragging him around the farm, playing with the grandkids and putting up with Ashley's version of "40 questions". He took everything in stride and is still speaking to me. Pictures? Now Sol, you know how I feel about "evidence". (grin) Besides, I'm a nice girl, I'm sure he must have taken advantage of me....or will, if I'm lucky. (ahem)

So "Elery" is German, is it? He says he was named after his Dad, who was named after his Grandfather, who was named after one of the signers of the Constitution.

SharonCB, pictures of the bowl? OK, but I probably oughta put something IN it. He's also got a Kitchen Aid mixer and a big food processor and is trying to convince me that I need both of those things. An enabler, for certain, and a better equipped kitchen than my own!

Annie

You're not letting him come out here to Cali without you!!

Broken fingers would be worth it. What size batteries does it take?

Hey lets start a 20 questions thread just for Mr. E. Annie, sign him up with a user name so we can have at him.

Oh geez, Jessica, I'd like to keep him around long enough to find out whether I really want to keep him around! LOL

OK, I'll tell him that you all want to "interrogate" him...

Annie

I just want to know if he makes apple butter, and if he does, can I have his recipe?
DONNA

Pshah!
Annie, I don't want to interrogate Mr. E. Considering you and Ashley, both like him. I trust your views are inerrant. However, if he happens to give you this, not so cabalistic gift, then, I'd say, it's time for some intervention.

In the meantime, let's do away with the: let's shove-his-family-jewels-in-the-George-Foreman-Grill mentality, and just welcome the guy. Who knows, he may have already stumbled onto this forum, in which case... Elery, I was just kidding about the GF grill.

Sol

I don't know, Annie - a Dad and a daughter - a teenage daughter at that - BOTH giving their approval - that is pretty much unheard of. Have fun!:)

LOL, Sol!

WooHoo Annie...you've been busy while I've been away. Way to go hotstuff. 50s are fun...and it sounds like you are on your way to really enjoying them. You go grrrrl. Maureen

I've got to start reading stuff more carefully! I completely missed the fact that there had been a second date!
I think he's darling....and sounds like he's thoughtful, kind and a good sport....but is he fun?!
What do Amanda and the kids think?
Whatever happens 2 years from now...if you have fun, that's good!
Linda C

LOL, LindaC, date #3 is coming up next weekend. He works some strange hours in the summer, filling in vacation time, etc, but he's got next weekend off and he's coming north again. He's going to help me plant the garden, LOL.

Fun? I think riding and planting the garden and generally hanging around is fun but he's willing to do anything I want to do. Shopping at Penzey's was fun, and he says if I come to visit him and meet his kids, he'll take me into Ann Arbor to Zingerman's Deli and Trader Joe's.

Amanda likes him and so do the kids, he's got a 20 month old granddaughter, so he plays Candyland like a pro.

So, it seems that everyone in my family approves except my mother who hasn't met him yet.

Oh, and he says his dog is going to just LOVE me.

Annie

I am with LindaC...missed this whole thread til now...though when you talked about this weekend on the TGIF thread, I did wonder if there had been (or was going to be)a second date. Way to go Annie.

...and he's a dog person?! score 500 extra points!

(I just keep checking back for more pictures...still waiting...)

Relax, Jessica, I won't see him until this weekend. I did get a nice birthday gift from him, nice enough that I'm a bit uncomfortable about it. I'll post that on Discussions, since it's food related!

Annie

I'm going to pull an Annie trick and bury this here! Psst... I have a beau. His name is Jerry. He is a professional photographer and lives in Eastern Washington. I know... far away but we're working on frequent visits.

{{gwi:1469043}}

Here he is!

Ooooh, Eileen, he's even cuter than I thought! I'm thinking all the positive thoughts for you that I can muster up.

Annie

Well then, now I've seen Elery, and even Jerry! I'm supposed to be sworn off men, so I can't allow this thread to give me any ideas, but I hope things go well for the two of you!

Eileen, you have been holding out on us. Jerry is very handsome.

Ann

Jerry hasn't ridden any horses for me or purchased any copper bowls but he has run the Alice gauntlet and survived. Brave man! The hair on Alice's neck finally settled down and she stopped circling and growling under her breath after Jerry had been here for a few days. ;-)

Ann, I think he's pretty handsome, too! We've known each other for over a year but have recently moved into new emotional territory.

Annie, Elery has my vote, too.

I'm glad to see "spring fever" is alive and well...

Annie and Eileen...your girls both deserve much happiness!

Nancy

Scott, you've sworn off men? Now why in the world would you do such a silly thing?

I swore off too, for a couple of years, but my willpower isn't that great and I got lonesome. While looking for "just a friend to talk to", I came across Elery. I definitely found a friend, we'll see what, if anything, comes next.

Annie

barnmom...wow, way to go. You two are really making spring interesting for us all.

Barnmom, you may be sneaky, alright, but I'm glad I checked into this thread :-) Jerry is quite a looker and I'm really glad for you! Sometimes they're worth waiting for, ya know?

Well, well, well...I'm glad I checked in! Way to go barnmom! He is very handsome.

Annie, I know you are to see Elery this weekend. Have fun!

Grandmother always said "handsome is as handsome does" and Jerry is handsome inside and out. Also an amazing creative talent. When he has his new website up I will share.

What an interesting thread. Much more so than the food topics!
Such a good looking horse too! The men are ok too...

And if things don't work out, (but I hope they do) you will always have a great FP.

Eileen, he is very handsome, too! I'd love to see his website when it's available.

Brenda

WAAAAAHHHHH!!!!! I can't see the "beef" on the horse!
I can see the "little beef" and they are so cute.
Lisa

sorry, Lisa, let me try again:

Here's the first one I posted after our first meeting at Meijer Gardens, just for a bonus!

Better?

Annie

Much better.
I remember the second pic. He is definitely a keeper.
Lisa
