Problem with Yahoo mail

Anyone else having problem with yahoo mail? I keep getting an error message 999. I thought that the site might just be busy when it happened last night, but I'm getting it again this am.

Found this: error message 999

This error appears to be a "catch-all" error code that Yahoo serves up when it doesn't have a more specific error code. It essentially means "Oops! Something went wrong but we don't know what, so we'll just say that Error 999 occurred."

I don't know anyone who supplies there real info to web based email accounts. Why would anyone do that?? What ever info you enter should be written down and saved somewhere though. If you should ever forget your password or your account gets hijacked they will ask you for you "information". After all they can't just send out passwords for accounts to just anybody who asks for it claiming to be the owner of said account. I learned this the hard way with my Yahoo account. They needed to know my birthday in order to retrieve my password for me and how the heck would I remember what I had put down when I signed up? Good-bye Yahoo email account. Some email services ask for your referrer email account too so take note of that also.

Or maybe you don't access your account as often and just missed the window of downtime. Its problems are way more often this last week than other times. It's acting up right now. Try the link I have farther up the thread, and you'll see how large a chunk of time it's been misbehaving today. It's a moving graph so it won't show you Monday, for instance. not right this moment for me, but it was earlier and it absolutely was on Monday. Or maybe I only hit it when it wasn't working. Either way, I think you're dismissing things you shouldn't dismiss. Yahoo is having trouble right now. It'd be nice if it worked every time one opened their mail. Which is what one would expect from a mail provider. I've been with them for a very long time. It's my only email provider outside of work. I won't change. But to say it's smooth sailing, what's wrong with you? just shows you're either A) lucky, B) don't access it as often as others, or C) are oblivious(?).

I had a bit of a problem getting some sent a couple of days ago, they said to try again in an hour or so ... ... and I left the page sitting, opened another page and worked there for a few minutes, then tried again, and the message went fine, sometimes giving me some twisted letters and numbers to copy, to ensure that it's a warm body on my end. They've blocked me a few times lately, saying that they've been wondering whether I've been sending spam, to please check my addressees (maybe too many?) but some were to only one or two. Usually got them sent, eventually. ole joyful

What's odd here is that my Yahoo mail never switched to the newest version. The only problem I have is that attachments won't open using Firefox because the Yahoo internal virus protection (Norton) blocks them because of a certificate problem. I downloaded an ad-on to Firefox which "skips certificate problems", but it doesn't always work. It's easier to just use IE for Yahoo mail attchs which lets me download them just fine.

I just checked my Yahoo mail and it's ok.

For what it is worth I have My Yahoo (signed in) as the homepage for IE. Since they changed the sign in interface I have not been able to remain signed in with the box checked.

I rarely ever use my yahoo email but I keep one and just went to it with no problems.

you might try clearing your cache on your browser sometimes an old cookie or file in there can cause those kinds of errors.

Lots of yahoo problems I've fixed are simply logging off the top of page at WWW.Yahoo.com ... then getting that page out of the browser & the close all browsers & clearing cache and cookies.

Got my concern fixed. I found in the IE Internet Options something checked the "Delete Browsing History on Exit" located on the General Tab. The Yahoo interface change is just coincidence.

I am wondering if the last IE cumulative update may have done it. Since I am a 98% FF user I never gave a thought to look at the options until today.
