Urlee in the politest way possible, if you wish to use IE would you please update to at a minimum IE7. IE8 is even better with the IE9 release on the near horizon.

IE6 is obsolete and many shopping, investment and financial websites won't even accept it. Using IE6 is like taking the lock off the front door of your home, getting in your car and regularly driving away. Chances are sooner or later you are going to have an unwelcome guest.

My bottom is all red from spanking and I know I am flirting with danger but I read where if you DL & install SP3, which I finally did recently from a disc cause I am on dialup, you should have IE 6 so I left it as is until.

I seem to recall hearing that IE9 won't work with XP. Consider installing a second browser if you don't already have one.

I read that too but forgot so I guess it's IE8.

you really really do need to update to either 7 or 8 that sp3 warning was for long ago when sp3 first came out and people were still using IE6 that should NOT be the case anymore because no one should be using IE6. Having it and using it is equivilant to turning off your antivirus program and your firewall you are walking a very dangerous path.

why not at least go to 7 and then you can always go on to 8 later on. Start out the New Year on a safe footing.

Just a reminder, Urlee, that even if you are using another browser such as FF or Opera, you still are vulnerable just by having IE6 on your computer. So please update IE ASAP.

What is the difference between 7 & 8 to where I would go 7?

I put the link to the IE 7 update there in my post just go there and do that download and you are good to go. I would go with 7 for now, a few people have had a little problem with 8 so give 7 a go and then later you can move on up to 8.

I recently took ravencajun's advice to update my XP/IE6/SP3 to IE7, using the site she gave me. I too had read that 'warning' about SP3, but realized that it no longer applied. I chose to do the updates while installing. Had NO problems at all. Thanks to all who helped me make that decision.
