Unable to clean Inbox

Hi folks,

I have more issues with my 'puter and once again, I need some expert help.

X-P, SP-3, OE6. I am unable to delete the Inbox, I can't do it by Highlighting, checking Select All, then delete. I can delete manually for a short time, then it quits deleting. I have 550 messages in the Inbox. The Sent items and Deleted folders work fine.

Any and all help will be appreciated,

Please disregard first message, the problem is solved. I found the Deleted Items.dbx file and deleted it. Now the Inbox deletes just fine.

I suggest, that you might want to make some folders that are separate to store some of that mail in, because, that is way too many messages stored in the inbox and that was why you were having the problem. I never store any messages in my inbox. I either delete them, once I have read, or answered them, or if it is something that I do want to keep, I put it in a folder with that persons name (if it is someone I hear from regularly), or in a folder called saved. You are actually lucky, that it just caused a problem with deleting, because, I have seen many times, where the mail wouldnt even open, until the dbx was removed from the outlook express folder. Thanks Mikie for your response. My original disc was just Winidows XP Professional 32 Bit. When I switched to a disc I burned a few years back only slipstreaming SP-2 on the disc, it got rid of my BSOD. I also had to load the SATA drivers for the computer from the Dell Support site. My machine is up and running great.

Several email utilities send deleted messages from the "inbox" to the "trash" box. Look at the local folders (in the email utiltiy). Do you find these folders, or similar: In, Sent, Unsent, and Trash? The deleted messages are not truly deleted until these have been deleted from the "trash" folder. To restore a message (or messages), go to the trash folder, select (highlight) the desired message(s) to be moved, click on the "move" button and follow the instructions. It should present a drop down menu of folders. Select one and the highlighted files will be moved to that folder.

Cords can come off the pulley on a block and tackle balance (rarely), causing binding. Alternatively, trim nails that are too long can be driven into the spring, inhibiting movement, but you'd think you would have noticed something right away, unless it was right at the verge of contact. In any event, instead of diagnosing this yourself, you probably just want to get the product serviced. It should be covered by warranty(?).

Go for it! My kitchen had a similar issue--at then end of a galley run, window lower than countertop and also it was wide enough that it would interfere with uppers. Initially I was going to drop the counter height there, and forgo an upper--but this would have dramatically changed the clean look I was going for. I kept everything full height. Had to *sign off* on it for the cabinet people and love it. We have a single hung, which works well in our space but it looks like you have a slider, which will give you easy access. Just think how you will have a cute dropped sill to but flowers on and stash your rings in a bowl when kneading dough/ I think it wont loook odd at all and you will be happy that you did not do a huge modification over something that might be actually cute and convenient.

I haven't used OE for a long time, but I do remember reading advice to do what Cat said above: create personal folders for storing email because of corruption that can happen with the system folders (like the Inbox).

Also, compacting folders (like an empty inbox) can be done manually (in OFFLINE mode). :-)
