Question about motherboard.

Is there a way for someone other than a technician to test a motherboard? My other computer doesn't recognize the ethernet card. Thanks

Give us some information Granny. Make and model of the mobo. Are peripherals hooked and and it is in a case or is sitting on a table separate? Is it only the NIC card not being recognised? Hve you tried updating the drivers for the NIC card?

Granny,
Sometimes you have to download and install the latest drivers to get the card to work.
The card's manufacturer site should have them.

Andrew, I do not know who gave you that info, but I have never found that to be true. I have rooted literally nearly 1000 cuttings over the year and have never had an issue with them flowering the following year. The only thing I can think of is that maybe the root system would be more established the following season if you keep it growing all winter. The issue is that you will have to deal with Mites and other issues if you keep them indoors all winter under lights. Again I personally would your newly rooted plants go dormant depending on their root system, they can establish them selves next growing season. Good luck

I'd run a the Diagnostic Software (SeaTools) Seagate-exclusive hard drive diagnostic software designed to troubleshoot most hard drive issues. To me it sounds like a bad sector on the HD. You know what that clicking is. I'd be saying why me!, but the same problem on multiple new HD's, I'd be scratching my head. BTW - beautiful system you built there. Nope, don't have to press the start button. Just plug it in. We were thinking it might be a problem with the start button. The computer has sat for a while. But I think it was because of the problems it is having now. To my knowledge, I'm the only one to have been in the case. I checked all the cable connections. Everything is tight. There is a strange problem with the video signal. With the monitor cable unplugged, if I turn the monitor on, I get a message on the screen saying "No Signal." But if I plug the monitor into the computer and turn it all on, I just get a black screen. I mite try a different video card. I'll fiddle with it some more this evening. Pooh Bear

The motherboard is a Asus Model P4SD-LA. It has integrated video, audio and LAN. The LAN is PCI Realtek RT8101L. It is in a case. The computer was working fine one morning before I turned it off. When I returned later in the day and turned the computer on it didn't recognize that I had a modem card or LAN. I tried two other ethernet cards with the same results.

Please find the driver in the link this is for the onboard PCI RT810IL, choose the operating system on that page & hit go.

Thanks zep516. I downloaded those drivers on my other computer and transferred them to a CD. The motherboard on the computer I'm having a problem with isn't reading any of the PCI cards or the onboard LAN.

Well from what I see everything is on-board with that mother board un-less you have an added video card, take the LAN cards out un-install any LAN drivers through Device manger and start fresh with the LAN in-stall from the cd/or link.

There are no LAN drivers showing up in Device manager. When I try to install the drivers it only goes to 50% on the meter on the screen and then says "finished" and "restart". When I restart the computer and check the drivers aren't in Device manager.

I am having the same problem with two a250n's. As usual, HP is no help. Their tech said something about flashing back to the original BIOS version (before we got into a shouting match), but wouldn't tell me what version or the Softpaq number so I could get it off of their ftp server. The PCI vendor ID's are wrong... Seems to be a frequent problem with the P4SD-LA, but haven't found a solution yet. If I do, I'll post it...
