Roast Potatoes Just As Good in a Speed Oven?
Comments (17)I have to disagree with Morton....I have the Adv. 120 and love it. I use it for all it's intended functions and frequently. I use it more than my regular oven by far. And I've never encountered the smoke issue Morton mentions. When I want to roast potatoes or vegetables, I put them in/on a metal pan and convection bake in the advantium...they turn out great. If I'm in a hurry I will put them in a glass pie plate and start with speedcook for the internals, then switch to bake or broil for the toasty exterior. I use my Advantium more as a regular oven than for speedcooking...I just like not heating up the big oven and for most foods it gets the job done just great. I do like the speedcooking for frozen pizzas and convenience foods --it basically gets the job done in the same amount of time as the package states, but, without the preheating time. So not a huge time savings on the 120. I do think the time savings is bigger for the 240.... But, the one downside of the 240 is that the interior space is smaller.... Hope this helps! I love my Advatium and would never give it up! I use it multiple times every day either as a microwave, oven, speedcooker, or warming drawer. I call it my workhorse!...See MoreSinge oven/convection MW combo good looking together
Comments (6)We are also considering the KA Architect II combo wall oven and micro. Karina, is that the same as your oven? Are you happy with it? I read in another post about the racks sagging. Have you had this issue? by the way Karina, your kitchen is exactly what I had envisioned. Would you mind sharing the brand, door style and color? Also, I love your granite on the island. What is it? Thanks...See MoreLooking for good wall oven/micro-convection combo
Comments (5)I have written a number of blogs on Miele, because they have such a good reputation with their products. In fact my partner has a number of their appliances and swears by them. Last year I wrote a blog (thereÂs a link below) on one of their more innovative products which they call the Miele MasterChef. What they've done is combine a microwave oven with a convection speed oven. It can be used as a microwave to do the normal defrosting and reheating and essentials like popping popcorn, which is about all the use we manage to get out of OUR microwave! It can also be used as a convection oven for roasting and baking, while browning foods as one would in any other oven. ThereÂs a lot to like about it, and if our kitchen had room for a separate oven (we are very much stuck with a 30" stove), it is one I would give some serious thought to. Comments (12)david, for me the easy glide shelf was a deal breaker. After I saw the first oven that offered it, I was unwilling to consider any oven (except the side-opening Gagg)that did not have it. I am short and when I have something heavy and especially heavy and juicy in the oven roasting, I am stretched out across the door and often feeling very tenuous in my control of the shelf as without the easy glides, they can be rather sticky particularly with heavy items on them. I am always anxious about spilling the hot liquid or tipping the pan with the stickiness while I'm pulling it out to baste it or test it. I was tickled pink when I saw those new easy glide shelves and thought "now why didn't someone think of this before?" I thought it so brilliant that I decided I would only buy an oven that has at least the bottom one on glides. I did foresee that moving shelves around might not be as simple and so decided that just having it on the bottom would be enough, rather than all of them like the GE Monogram. I ended up deciding to go with a Thermador. As I said above, though, my strong feeling about it might have to do with my size and short arms. Or, alternatively, maybe I'm just an easy mark for new ideas because I also fell in love with full-extension fridge drawers and had the same reaction--BRILLIANT! :-) I think ultimately it probably depends on whether your shelves without the glides have ever bothered you...if not, then you'll probably not notice not having the glides. But if they have bothered you in the past, now that you know they're available, there might be days you'll be kicking yourself wondering why you didn't jump on the idea when you could. (I think some manufacturers also let you buy the shelf separately to install later so that might be an option as well.)...See Moreeandhl
