watching abc tv episodes

I thought that I had asked this question before, but I can't find it. (I thought I used to find my former questions by doing a search using my user name??//) My Mother who is 81, is needing my help. She wants to watch the ABC TV episodes on her computer as her VCR messed up. She says that she has done the required installation but that when she starts clicks to watch the episode it goes thru the whole installation again. I have it installed on my machine, so I don't know what obstacles she is incurring. We have the same machines....HP Touchsmart with Vista Home Premium. How can I help her?

I'm not familiar with the download needed, but is it supposed to install completely automatically with one click, or is it possible she only downloaded the software, but didn't really install it?

I watch episodes of Modern Family, an ABC show, and didn't remember downloading any special software. I went directly to the ABC site and see that they do want the viewer to install software.

However, if I go to hulu.com instead, and put "Modern Family" in the search box, I can watch the show without installing special software.

You didn't mention which show(s) your mother wanted to watch so I wasn't able to confirm that this works for all ABC shows, but it's worth a try. - June

of course everyone would like a quick fix but nadine01 is right the only way to really lose the flab and tighten those muscles is healthy eating and exercise and it will take time you didnt get flabby over night and you aint gonna be toned over night either believe me i know i was very small in highschool a size 3 but after high school i got married had babies (4 of em in 5 years lol) my youngest in now 11 and im just now getting back in shape part due to the fact that i hate to exercise and i love to eat but i am getting real close to 40 and i have decided to change for me for once just me so i have been eating right, exercising with weights and doing a lot of walking and learning to drink water until about 6 months ago i had not drank a full glass of water since i was a kid i hate the taste of it, still do but i manage to choke it down in 6 months i have lost 40 lbs and 6 inches off my waist :) my goal is a size 5

Just wanted to bring this thread back up to the top. We are almost through series 3 of Doc Martin. My DH and I have really been enjoying it! As soon as the music starts we just immerse ourselves in the small town life of Port Wenn. We watched the first series on Netflix, but they didn't have the second series available for streaming at that time, so we switched to Hulu. We will probably check out some of the other series that Hulu recommended based on our being Doc Martin fans. I wasn't sure how we were going to watch series 4, so I checked on Netflix again, and they seem to have all 4 series available for streaming now.

The first time I accidentally came across SATC I was shocked, and embarrassed to be watching it with me in the room! Didn't finish the episode. One of the racier ones I guess. It was on free-to-air tv in Australia so I don't know how much it may have been edited. I've occasionally seen other episodes and thought the show might have been interesting. I made a point of watching the final episode. I can understand people following the show all the way through but it was on at a time in my life when I needed to be an expert channel changer so I just didn't tend to watch anything with that sort of potential. What has bothered me more is some of the stuff on SBS and ABC which has suddenly shown up in inappropriate timeslots. At least I had some idea SATC had a bit of a reputation, and it was in a better timeslot. (I've been told ABC and SBS don't have to abide by the same standards as the commercial stations.) I like Sweeby's comments. Popi, maybe your daughter was hoping for a conversation afterwards. I'm frequently shocked by the way increasingly young girls dress. But I don't have a teenage daughter so I really don't know what it's like for the parents to find the right path to tread on such issues. I suspect tv doesn't help, especially if the parents don't give some guidance as to what is appropriate viewing. I especially don't like it when parents put tv's in each child's bedroom.

I have heard of hulu.com; I'll have her check it out.

I'm pretty sure the one that I used originally to watch, which I thought was ABC.com I had to download something and let it install, cause I had some problems with it at first and then it finally worked but I can't remember what I did. When I right click on the screen where it is playing it shows me a box related to Adobe Flashplayer. I went to "tools", then "manage add ons" and it is there enabled. Don't know if that has anything to do with it. I told her to check that out. At one time I suggested to her the TV guide site, so maybe that is the one she is using. Just wondered if anyone had any of the similar problems.

She is wanting to watch Desparate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters.
I was wondering if it might be Desperate Housewives she was wanting to see. That's the only thing I have watched on the computer when I missed it at its normal viewing time.

I hope she gets it figured out. I remember the first time I wanted to watch it, I had to download and install something first.

Yahoo! I just used the Hulu and watched the last episode of Desparate Housewives to make sure it would work for my Mom. Great site. I even caught a major word using the CC feature that I missed when I watched it the first time. Love it! I have an episode of House that (ballgames pre-empted and my DVR missed the last half) I need to look up. Thanks so much!
