New Jenn-Air Wall Ovens

Has anyone seen the new line of Jenn-Air wall ovens? I'm still trying to decide between 27 and 30 inches (we have 27 today). The double oven (both convection) models I'm looking at are the JJW2827, JJW2830, and the JJW3830. The 3830 claims some new vertical convection technology.

So far it's pretty hard to get much info on these. The Jenn-Air website is pretty minimal, and I haven't found prices anywhere. I have asked one on-line dealer for a quote just to get an idea. I've also been looking at the KitchenAid and Electrolux ovens.

My main criteria for the wall oven is that it is available in black, has (at least one) full-extension glide rack, and a hidden bake element. Anything meeting those criteria then needs to be judged on quality, power, styling, other features, and of course, price/value.

I went to the JA website a few wks back. didn't like it - at all! sent them a comment stating that. that was enough to turn me from their products.
I did have a JA grill many yrs ago.

The Jenn-Air and Kitchenaid ovens are very similar - those (and several other brands) are all made by Whirlpool and share most of their parts. The Electrolux ovens are quite nice, especially the "Icon" series.

I've had the new Jenn Air Combination Microwave/Wall Oven for about a year now and have been happy with it except for one BIG (too me) thing. The cook timer feature with a delay start does not function. Its not broken just the feature was never written into the software code for the control panel. After several repair calls (from Jenn Air and Sears) to verify that I wasn't crazy a new control panel was ordered but that has been repeatedly delayed. As a side note, this handy feature was one of the main reasons for replacing my previous old, working but very ugly oven. It has taken several months but now Sears is offering to replace this oven and I think will I pay the extra cost for the V2 Convection model (with a different control panel as verifed by Jenn Air). I would wait it out for a new control panel but after a year I don't have much confidence Jenn Air is planning on fixing it. I also want to mention that Sears has been responsive for the most part and I did not have to fight for them to replace the oven. (although I don't have new oven yet so I may be speaking too soon). I know this doesn't answer OP's original question but it seemed like a good place to relate my experience.

In Search of Cutout for Old Jenn Air Wall Oven

I just went though this with my old Whirlpool wall oven. I found it was important to measure not only the cutout, but the overall dimension of the existing unit as well. I had to "pull out" the oven from the wall a few inches to measure. I was surprised that ours was really only held in place by a few screws on each side and then pulled right out. Just flip your breaker beforehand to be safe. I found that the area covered by the exiting oven's trim was discolored and would need to be hidden by the new unit. So in the end, the overall dimension became important in our selection as well. I used the AJMadison site to compare dimensions and then only considered those that would fit. For us, KitchenAid met the criteia best. Good luck !

Jenn Air vs. Bosch wall oven & dishwasher

I would certainly get a good Bosch dishwasher over a Jenn-Air. Although Bosch makes a number of quality products, their dishwashers are what originally made them famous and are still considered among the quietest and most efficient DW's. If matching appliances is important to you I would go with the Bosch oven. Since Bosch/Siemens bought Thermador and Gaggenau a couple of years ago you might want to try one of the Thermador DW's (made by Bosch with some fluorishes added by Thermador) and a Thermador Masterpiece or Pro style oven. The Pro comes with a rotisserie and is very powerful. The new Masterpieces are quite excellent too. Greg

This appears to be a rebranded version of the old KitchenAid and Whirlpool speed ovens that were sold a few years back. The KitchenAid was sold in 27" or 30" widths separately or over a full-size convection oven; the Whirlpool was sold only in the latter combo configurations. The oven interior was identically sized on both widths; buying the 30"w model gave you a larger door over the same smaller opening (but a 3" wider main oven below it if you bought the combo unit). The Jenn-Air has the same basic feature set and electrical requirements as older siblings (note 20A rather than the GE Advantium 240's 30A). It had some sort of quartz-radiant heater rather than halogen lights IIRC. The control panel has been updated to the new Jenn-Air design. If it works like the old ones, it cooks well but not quite as fast as the GE A240, and isn't quite as versatile if you like to just enter times and values rater than the preprogrammed food options that WP/KA/JA gives you. Overall a good oven, but nothing new here, just a new brand name (and higher price) for a warmed-over old product.

I agree about the JA website - no suprise, but KitchenAid's is not much better. The one thing that I was happy to find on the new JAs is that burried in the Design Professional section, you can download Google Sketchup models of the ovens (and I assume other products). All manufacturers should be putting out SketchUp models.

We're looking at the "regular" Electrolux. The ICON series is not available in black.

DOOOOOO NOT buy anything jen air! i have the jjw2830 oven for a little over a month is broken. it turns off and has errors and jen airs great fix is to rip it out of my custom built cabinet take the entire unit apart in my brand new kitchen while they talk the repair guy threw the fix OVER THE PHONE. hello the errors are a wiring problem they want to rip wires out of my electric oven and put it back in. Jen Air has the worst customer service ever and if i could take them back witch believe me i have tried i would! oh did i mention i have had my dishwasher repaired twice already in a month of owning them for it pouring water out of the door causing me to not even be able to use my 2,000 dishwasher! good luck but i would look into a different brand all together. now that i have bought them i have read all the other bad things that jen air has done they are a bad company to give your money to.
