Bosch 800 Plus- Am I missing Toe Kick Plate?
Comments (15)Rather timely subject as I just installed the toe kick under my dishwasher today. Unlike yours, my model has the 3 piece toe kick. There are 2 rectangular holes in the 2nd piece which do not appear in your pictures. The 3rd piece 'L' moves in or out to accomodate the inset depth of the kick. In my case the cabinet maker supplied a kick piece fitted for the space and I just used Velcro to hold it to the part 'L'. In your case the cabinet maker should supply a small box faced with your kick material and your moulding that will slide in and fill the space. It can be held by Velcro if necessary. Be careful however because the bottom of the door panel descends below the full height of your toe kick as described in several other threads here. The maximum height of your inset box will be determined by how low the panel goes and will likely be less than the height of your kick....See MoreShould we get the Bosch 800 dishwasher?
Comments (20)Ok, I'm another dissatisfied Bosch owner. We have a Bosch gas oven, microwave and 800 series Evolution dishwasher. We've had all three appliances for 18 months. The dishwasher had an odd smell inside for just about a year. I thought it would never go away. After we discovered the smell (kind of sweet chemical smell), a quick search for Bosch smell came up with a number of hits. The other problem we have is the end of cycle beep. Even though I have found instructions online how to turn it off or down, it does not work on my top of the line 800 model. I wrote to Bosch a while back asking for help. I've received three replies telling me it can be done and then they send me instructions for another model even though I have been very specific about our exact model number. I wrote them once again a couple weeks ago begging for help and still no reply. I'm pretty fed up. Because of this problem we cannot do dishes before we head to bed or lie down on the sofa to watch TV (read "sleep" :-) because the blasted beep will wake us up and it will keep on beeping every few minute or so until you either open the door or turn the DW off. I wrote to Bosch asking them why they bothered making such a quiet DW if the beep is going to set your nerves on end anyhow. I also do not like the top rack organization. We can get only about 2/3 of what we used to be able to get in our 20 year old GE. The microwave beep is just as irritating and though you can turn it off, it also turns your timer beep off at the same time. Discovered that after the kitchen filled with smoke one night. I love the way the Bosch looks with its clean European lines but that doesn't buy much when there are so many other issues for me. Jodi-...See MoreKitchenAid Architect ii vs Bosch 800?
Comments (35)KitchenAide like many brands are part of a conglomerate that offers relatively similar products with feature differences at significantly different price points. The conglomerates can sell the brand equity out for a 'fast buck' which unfortunately is common today with everything being so short sighted on the next Wall Street quarterly report with executive bonuses paid based on stock price. KitchenAide mixers are one of the prominent victims of this short sightedness. My old 5qt 300 Watt mixer is ~35 years old and is much better than the newer cheaply constructed ~600Watt ~6qt models of today with their plastic gears and other trade offs. With these conglomerate companies and brands, there are still some "sweet spots" for both price and quality. One particular good stand out was my KA Oven that exceeded all my expectations for cooking quality. It never had a problem the entire time I owned it so, what else is there to say?...See MoreBosch panel ready dishwasher - panel door too tall
Comments (6)@hallettco I used an Amish cabinet maker - just measured and the finish height is 34 1/2" but the toe kick is only 3 3/4" - so that's the discrepancy. Apparently these are the specs he always uses, but they don't make sense when trying to have a dishwasher that coordinates with the cabinets and toe kicks. I'm surprised he didn't run into issues before, even with dishwashers that aren't panel ready the toe kicks of the cabinets and dishwasher wouldn't align. Or other clients didn't care or notice... Didn't think I needed to specify the toe kick height with him since that's typically standardized. What type of filler did you use on that dishwasher? I did a google search but mostly ran across fillers for ranges. Or I need to track down those sliding hinges. That seems like a decent option if I can find them. Thanks for the help!...See MoreFori
