KitchenAid Architect Series II KIRS608BSS induction range
Comments (24)I bought this KitchenAid in March of last year. 2 weeks after it was delivered it shut down. Meaning there were no light on the display & it would not come on. We called customer service & they said turning the breaker off & on again would reset the range. We flipped the breaker to reset it & it worked again. Over the next several months, we had to continue to do this as it would just go off. It finally got to where this didn't reset the range & we called to get it repaired. When the repairman arrived & we turned the breaker back on & it worked! (They wanted to charge me the $135.00 service call fee as there wasn't anything wrong with my range) A week later my husband went to use the range & there was a letter "K" showing but the range wouldn't work even after flipping the breaker. The letter "K" did go away though. We again called & a repairman came out. Told us there was no letter "K" code, we must have been mistaken but the oven would not work so he ordered a relay switch saying that was what was wrong. A week later the part came in & they put it on. Oven worked. About 3 weeks later (3 days before Thanksgiving) the whole range would not work so another repairman was sent, parts ordered but we had to cancel Thanksgiving dinner at my house as the range would not be working in time. They did get the parts on & the range worked once again. Then 4 days before Christmas the electronic reading on the range said "Function not supported" when we went to use the oven. They said they couldn't get a repairman out before January 7th. When I told them that was unacceptable, they called a different repairman & again ordered parts but they wouldn't be available before Christmas. I finally found a corporate person & explained everything to him. After he investigated, he said they would replace my range January 2nd. A week later, someone called me saying they were shipping my replacement range & it would arrive end of January. We were now using a Toaster oven to bake. Last week we still hadn't heard when it would arrive so we called & were told it would ship on Wednesday. Yesterday it still didn't come so I called corporate again & was told the ship date was moved out to April..... They did finally offer me a different range but it would be several weeks before arrival. I told them that I am just going to go & buy another range as I need to cook for my family. They finally agreed to refund my money for the defective one after I send them the original receipt but it would take about 4-6 weeks for them to come & get the range & give me my money back. I know this is very long but I thought it might help you with your decision. I would strongly recommend you not purchase this KitchenAid range. It has taken me months of frustration & no way to cook properly to finally get where I am with the company & I am still out $1800.00 for another month or so. I even researched induction ranges before I bought the KitchenAid. Obviously not well enough! By the way, I do love the induction type range. It cooks amazingly well & even. Good luck!...See MoreBosch vs KitchenAid vs ? wall oven
Comments (3)Regarding the Bosch maximum temperature, the way they present the specs are misleading. You need to check the owner's manual for the correct info. Max temp on a Bosch is 550F. Max temp using Sabbath Mode on a Bosch is what's limited to 450F (the Sabbath Mode limit is what's mentioned in the quick info sheet, which is why it's confusing). Note Thermador's new line of ovens (same parent company as Bosch) is limited to 525F on any bake modes. 550F is only available for broil and rotisserie. The Thermador ovens that are being replaced went to 550F. I don't know why they changed, other than perhaps the new swipe control "can't handle the heat"....See MoreHelp me decide: Bosch 500 series dishwasher or Kitchenaid Architect II
Comments (13)Thank you for your views and suggestions. I love the third rack option also and also the Aquastop feature offered by Bosch (because our last one leaked). Kitchenaid architect series does not have these 2 options but has almost the double number of reviews compared to the Bosch and it is very highly rated also. After I posted my question here I was browsing some of the previous threads... There is a lot of discussion about the funky smell/odor and mold issue that some people are experiencing with Bosch. Have any of you who already own one experienced this issue? Thanks, N...See MoreRefrigerator decision: Kitchen Aid #KRFC300ESSvs Bosch 800 B36CL80ENS
Comments (6)I don't have specific information on these models but based on my experience with a counter depth refrigerator (French door) I would be very tempted by the Bosch with the bigger freezer and the double drawers. FWIW I have a KA - don't remember the model but it is the 72" high model and mine is the paneled configuration. I don't have issues with the interior storage of my refrigerator but I have had a difficult time adjusting to the freezer which is pretty typical. My prior refrigerator was an extremely low tech type of model (apartment sized) with freezer on top - othing fancy. However even though the freezer was relatively small I was able to jam stuff in there and manage to close the door. With a freezer drawer I have to be really careful because you can't stuff things in there or the drawers won't close properly and so the freezer won't shut. I tend to stock up on stuff that is frozen (theoretically) versus fresh stuff like produce so sometimes I have to think about whether I can actually fit items in the freezer and a few times I have had to put stuff in the refrigerator like some frozen waffles since they wouldn't be harmed if thawed. I also tend to use the door shelves quite a bit and that is also where I tend to run out of storage but that isn't as critical as freezers because I can hold back on refrigerating bottles of water or ice tea but obviously most frozen food needs to be frozen or eaten fairly quickly which defeats the purpose of a fully stock freezer. Both Bosch and KA have quality appliances although obviously any appliance can be a lemon. I have Bosch dishwasher, induction oven, wall oven and washer/dryer so obviously I am a fan of the brand but I did go with the KA refrigerator because I liked the extra height and also I needed a paneled refrigerator....See Morenadianyc
