Help, I screwed up my FP DD's trying to change the settings

I was trying to change the rinse setting on my Fisher Paykel DD603 dishdrawers and instead of pushing the Lock & Eco buttons, I must have pushed something else... it's in some wacky mode, and I can't get it out of it.

I have an integrated model and here's what I see:

When it's off, the heavy, fast and rinse lights are lit (every other light), and the start led flashes green.

When it's off, the start button flashes fast cycling through all of it's colors.

If I try to run it, it fills and washes for ~5 minutes, then does an end of cycle beep. There is still water in there, and it's still stuck in wacky mode.

I located a service manual online, and thought maybe I accidentally put it in diagnostic mode. I don't think that's it because I couldn't get it to exit. In fact, when I followed the directions to get into diagnostic mode (hold lock & start) it started playing me music. It actually played me The Star Spangled Banner, I kid you not! I think it's way of laughing at me.

I hope someone can help me out here, because I'd really like to avoid calling a service person and paying $200 because I'm an idiot.

Try throwing the circuit breaker to cut the power for a few minutes. Then turn it back on. That MIGHT reset it.

I was just coming back to post that I figured out what I did! I put the dishwasher in Showrooom mode, so all it does is a demo wash (or play the US & NZ national anthems). The only way to get it out of showroom mode is to cut the main power. The other drawers are still running, but as soon as they're done we're gonna give it a try.

Note to other DD owners: Do NOT press and hold Eco & Power buttons! Use the Eco & Lock buttons to access the settings like the directions say. Serves me right for relying on my memory istead of looking it up in the manual located all of 3 ft from the dishwasher...

I used my self-clean a few times in both upper and lower ovens without incident except for the porcelain flaw, which didn't affect performance or keep me from using it. I'm sorry for you that you've had this problem at all, and especially twice! In my case, a new oven was offered immediately after they received the report from the repair tech. The woman I worked with was very helpful. She also showed me patience and understanding when I initially had a negative reaction about the new oven style replacing the style I have. She also did research for me, getting information from marketing about the new oven since I couldn't see it in person. She answered emails quite quickly and once I made the decision about how I wanted things handled, I heard within an hour that the shipping and installation of my oven was arranged. I just photographed my cab next to range for another thread--an example of Lynk aftermarket pullouts used for pots and pans. Ikea sells pullout stuff too and RevAShelf. Look and think. [Apologies for posting same photo twice in two days.] We screwed a piece of wood to center back just above upper shelf to keep the upper shelf from kicking up when pullout is extended. Still allows us to go back and reposition in future if we decide we want different shelf positions. These were abt $45 plus tax each on sale--17 inches wide. There are other styles but the good thing about this style is visibility. (Perhaps your contractor can get some at cost and install them so you can avoid tax?) At this cost, it would be abt $100 to retrofit two shelves and they can be done over time. What would new drawers cost? Get a price. If you didn't know about lower drawers, would you miss them as much? Pretend you didn't know, which apparently was the case!

kmcg85- Love that pink! It definately has that cheerful look about it. But I'm not sure it will match with the pink in the comforter. I took my comforter to SW and the interior designer there matched the other colors with it, because I am not good at choosing colors. busybee3- Ice plant looked alittle on the purplish side with the comforter. The window treatments are the same ones that come with the comforter set, valance and Black and white polka dot drapes. I'm planning on doing alot of black and white polka dot accessories. lori111- Thanks! If it was up to me I would do soft white walls, but dd REALLY wants pink walls!

Houzz screwed up my settings

Up till now, I have had no problems navigating anywhere within GW or Houzz and have been surprised that so many seem to have issues moving around the forums unimpeded. But then, I never sign off or log off either. Then this morning while reviewing my recent notifications, I see that posts on the HOME side of the GW forums are asking me to sign in to comment!! What's up with that?? Never happened before! But when I click on that message, the comment box immediately opens up without requiring me to sign in........very confusing. And the Landscape Design forum format has changed to the usual Houzz mess rather than its more typical GW format it has had for the two decades or more I have been participating there. I dislike that format intensely and if it remains, I will decline to participate in that forum any longer. Houzz people........are you reading this?? Please take note that these arbitrary changes you are making are not well received. The system is NOT broken so no need to change!!!

Showroom mode! Hahahahaha!

I accidentally locked mine--I didn't know it could be locked and when resetting the circuit didn't help, I thought it was dead. But at least it didn't sing to me.

5 yrs post kitchen completion, I still keep up with the FP DD posts so maybe I'll know what to do if I have a problem. Just wanted to say that you gave me a good laugh. Where is DadoES?

Showroom mode, yes. All F&P appliances (well, washers, DishDrawers, & the topload dryers) have Showroom or Demo mode. Only way to cancel it is disconnect the power for 15 seconds or so, which is a safety consideration ... customers examining them in a store usually don't have access to the power source for switching the machine back to normal operation.

DishDrawer showroom mode is intended for the machine to be manually filled with water (there's usually no plumbing connections on a store display) to demo for customers the operational sound and such. It runs a few mins spray and does not drain. When left idle for a few mins, the badge lights begin flashing to attract attention. Prefinished models flash the LCD backlight and cycle the display through the various icons. Those clever engineers at F&P programmed several musical tunes into demo mode on the DDs and washers, just for fun.

Locking drawers ... press/hold the Lock button for one beep enables KeyLock, which prevents the buttons from working until Lock is released. Keep holding it for an additional beep (different pitch) enables ChildLock, which locks the lid down so the drawer can't be opened.

There's also a ClosedDrawer option that seals the lid every time the drawer is closed, requires turning on the Power to open it. This is different from ChildLock in that simply pressing Power unlocks it. The lid automatically closes again 30 seconds after the drawer is closed.

Child lock is easy enough to engage and disengage, but if you'd been operating under the incorrect assumption that the machine has no child lock, you might be confused. (I'd been using the keylocl feature that neutralizes the controls and apparently held in the button too long.)

Anyway, it's darn funny, Alku. I'm glad you shared. I'm laughing with you, not AT you!

Ha, ha my HUSBAND was laughing at me and my 18-month old daughter too (although I do believe that had more to do with the music aspect). Cutting the power did the trick Sunday. Seriously, that's what I get for doing the dishes...usually it is DH's task.

Glad to see the die-hard kitchen/appliance people are still around! I actually posted hoping that Dadoes was still here to rescue us :) Luckily we figured it out, but it's so nice to see you all have still got my back!
