Jan that will work fine and you can just install it right over the top of the one you have now if you rather do it that way, I always do mine that way, they say it is better to do a clean install but I have never ever had a problem just getting the new one and installing it right on top and that way you are sure it will keep all your settings and faves and profile info.

Just put your flash drive in and then move the FF exe to your pc and double click it to begin the install. Watch as you do it step by step because I think it may ask if you want google toolbar or some other stuff, I never accept that stuff if I want it I can add it later, now if you want it they you have the option to check it to have it install too. I usually just want my FF.

the installer has no idea what you downloaded it to so no problem there you just go to the exe file and go, the wizard will guide you. It will ask if you want to make firefox your default browser you can choose if you do or not but that can always be set later, if you do not know.

we are all going to have to change over to ff3 real soon because the support for the older versions are ending in a month or so unless they change the schedule.

If I didn't have something to worry about, my DH says I'd go find something to worry about. I've upgraded FF before, but that was back when it was just a simple little thing, no bells and whistles. And on my old W/98 system. XP still scares me to death. Come to think of it, so does W/98. Anyhow, I'll copy your instructions and follow to the letter.

I know recently my pc that still has ff2 on it has had a pop up asking if I want to update to ff3 so you should be able to also just click on the little round throbber thing on the top right of ff and see if it has the update, or click Help then the check for updates.

but doing it as we discussed will work too.

I think that "little round throbber thing" is my brain....
