I LOVE my slow cooker! It's an old Rival, probably from the eighties, given the floral motif in country blue. It has a heavy, ribbed, earthenware insert that holds the heat well, and clean-up is SO easy, no matter what has been in it or for how long (don't need those new inserts!). It just has the two settings, low and high, and has a plastic lid. I can't even remember where I got it. I think maybe my mom found it in a thrift shop, and I think she gave it to me because she thought it was too big just for her. Anyway, I work long hours, and having a hot cooked meal waiting for me when I get home is a godsend. (Has anyone read Barbara Kingsolver's book, Animal Vegetable, Miracle? Her family has named their crock pot, "Betty Crocker," because she stays home and cooks all day for them! Tee hee.) One of my favorite things to make in it are pork roasts (either with teriyaki and pineapple for an Asian flair or with applesauce and onions for a Germanic twist--always browned on the stove first before adding to the crock pot). But recently, I made the BEST chuck roast ever--a Polish recipe with chopped dill pickles in it! Sounds weird, but it was HEAVENLY! Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I do have some information that may be of some help to folks. Fed up with slow cookers that cook way too hot nowadays, I was in my local thrift shop, looking for a vintage model that truly cooks slowly, and found a barely used Sunbeam Crocker Cooker for $7.99, minus the lid (I matched up a glass lid from another shelf in the store, and now have a unit that I can use for slow cooking). I dug out my old "Crockery Cooker" cookbook, to find information on the pot and found the following temperature information: "Use 200 F for LOW. There is no 200 F marker on the dial, so set it just left of the red CROCKERY band. For HIGH, set it between 300 F and 350 F." I hope that the temperature information from the above mentioned cookbook will be of use. Joe

Hi Sandy, Yes I am interested in what parts you have of the Dazey Chef Pot. I've had mine for 20 + years and it's great. I only use it for crock pot cooker. My crock portion just cracked. I have a suspicion that a family member plunked something down hard on it the last time it was soaking in the sink. Funny, I've been researching getting a new one and for every slow cooker you find, somebody has a problem. I came here to get some advice and found one of my old posts right here! It would be great to be able to just replace what I need or the whole thing. I have it set that you should be able to contact me, I think through the member page or something. Let me know. In kitchen, nothing on counters MIcrowave/hood, used many times daily Rice cooker, used several times a week mini food processor, used several times a month may move it to garage stick blender, used several times a month milk frother, used nearly daily to mix hot cocoa In garage covered with dust bags coffee grinder, used occasionally Nutribullet, used occasionally toaster, used occasionally bread machine, used occasionally hand mixer, used occasionally large food processor, rarely used should get rid of it blender, should get rid of it waffle maker, same but it does make great waffles......... electric skillet, hasn't been used for decades but it is so pretty! Gone and not replaced Egg cooker, quite handy actually and a bit sorry that it died after 30 years ice cream maker, fun but we never got the hang of it dehydrator, fun but hard to clean crockpot, never used it stand mixer, died and not replaced several corn poppers, died or broke sandwich grill, eat very little bread these days drip coffee maker, got rid of the it as soon as laid hands on a french press I'd love an instapot and electric kettle but am fine without them. I used an electric can opener at mom's house and prefer the good old Swingaway.
