I second the advice to look at other sources than Sears. I see that you are in Canada, and I am in the states, so I don't know if what I have found out about the Sears pricing applies or not, but here is what I have found about the Samsung counter depth: The Samsung website says the list price is $2900. Sears says the list price is $3400! Lowes and Best Buy agree with the Samsung price. Lowe's has an exclusive with Samsung on a 2nd ice maker in the bottom freezer. It can be turned off separately from the top in-the-door ice maker. It takes up a bit of space in the freezer (and freezer space is certainly at a premium!), but we have decided that we want the Lowe's version. People that have bought this fridge generally really like it, but the small ice container is a complaint. The Lowe's salseman told us that they should have 10% off for Presidents Day (I suppose not in Canada!) and you can get another 10% off with a coupon at the Lowe's moving website (google it, and you don't HAVE to be moving). We are also getting a Kitchenaid dishwasher (note that Sears has higher list price on these as well, by $50 to $90) and I think the stainless on the Kitchenaid is a bit brighter than the Samsung, but I'm not going to let that change my decision. I want to get the best appliance in each category (at my budget), and the Samsung fridge gets great reviews. I plan to hang a hand towel on the dishwasher bar to hopefully hid the differences some, and my dishwasher is not that close to my fridge. I plan to get the new Electrolux slide-in induction range and the GE Advantium over-the-range micro/speed cook, so I am all over the place with appliance brands. Oh well.

sdionnemoore -- I am interested in your comment about the fridge not being level front to back. My husband and his friend just brought our new RFD237AARS in from the garage and slid it into place. We noticed the same thing, that the front is too high and that makes the freezer area stick out from the wall more than at the top. When we put the level on it, it's seriously out of whack and there doesn't appear to be a way to lower the front. We called Samsung Canada and the support person was basically useless. Did you call Samsung in the US (I assume you are in the US -- I wonder if they had anything more helpful to say than the Canadian support person.) I read another comment on a different site that the owner put his up on shims at the back, which we might try ourselves. The whole setup seems a bit flaky to me. I've never had to level a fridge before so I don't know if they are all like this.

I just got an LG LFX25975ST (french door) and I'm in love. It replaced a 21 cf Jenn Aire side by side and what a difference. My freezer in the Jenn Aire was packed full, when I transferred everything to the LG the freezer was about 3/5 full. I can't think of anything I dislike about it, its roomy and well configured. I was going to get a Kenmore Elite to match my other appliances, but Sears wants $549 for an extended warranty, Home Depot's 4 year warranty on the LG was $99. Also, Home Depot will beat the lowest (local) price on the appliance by 10% so I got the refrigerator for a little over $1800. Here is a link that might be useful: LG 25cf French Door Refrigerator

I have not checked for a while, (maybe a year), but since about 2005 or so, Jenn-air was the highest rated fridge for reliability by folks that responded to Consumer Reports Surveys. Well Ahead of SZ and some of the rest. We've had our JA for going on 7 years now, the icemaker did die after about 5 years, but $135 and 10 minutes of my time, I replaced it and the new one makes plenty of ice, no clumping, funny shapes, etc etc that you see about some of the other icemakers. It hasn't even burned out a light bulb yet! We love the features too, shelves that crank up and down with a handle, both in the fridge and freezer, great lighting, even the ice maker is well lit, We can set 3 different temps in the fridge compartment, one for meats, one for veggies/fruits and the main fridge temp, all digital controls and readouts. They also have the modern variable speed compressor, that is quiet and efficient, unlike the High price brand that still uses "the same compressor that was in your "Grandmother, or even Great Grandmother's Fridge" My only "Beef", (And it is a BIG ONE) is now they are hiding the prices like that "Fancy Brand" used to do, They should take a lesson from that brand and put their prices up ,at least on their website, but to Me, they should be posted by any store that sells them, sooooooo until they do so, I still recommend looking elsewhere, as to me that is "Sleezebag Marketing" and as much as I like mine, had they been practicing such marketing strategies back when I bought mine, I would have looked Elsewhere!
