I am enjoying my Kindle but I have become aware of a problem I hope to get past. I inadvertently page forward or backward with both my thumbs. It doesn't help that I have a cat in the crook of my left arm or sleeping on my lap or chest. I have three cats and only one has staked out my warm and soft body tonight. I have two others but the big boy comes periodically and cuddles under my chin and then moves away for long periods. My smallest kitty sleeps politely on my lap and knees and he probably won't be difficult to read around. I am aware of how often I have to turn a page but I think I will get used to that. The default font is easy to read and I use trifocals. Nancy

You're problem is leaving the WiFi on. It's the simplest thing to turn on and off. No need for it to be on when it's sleeping. They never shut down. They just turn off and go into sleep mode. The only way to keep a charge in the battery for any length of time is to keep the WiFi off unless it's absolutely necessary. It certainly isn't needed for reading. Only for the downloads.

I recently had that problem on my ipad, my books were gone. I looked in my little ipad book and it said when you lose an app, that sometimes it helps to shut it completely off, then turn it on again...and it worked! I usually don't turn my ipad off, just goes in "sleep" mode I guess. It may work for you too. The ibook app. showed in the ipad but when I tapped it, there wasn't any books there.

did you try using the tiny reset button? I have had to do reset on my various tablets from time to time, you have to use a paper clip to push it. anything that cost as much as they do should have that kind of support. they do have several pages of things to try you may want to look here at the screen suggestions Screen Issues like Plug it in, hold the on switch for at least 30 seconds this is the info from kindle support for using the reset button. 1. It is preferable to have the Kindle plugged into a power source when you press the reset button, especially if the battery is low, 2. Turn OFF the wireless switch before pressing the reset button. In addition, be certain that whatever you are using to press the reset button is actually thin enough to get deeply enough into the reset hole. You may want to inquire if the replacement will be a refurbished unit in many cases they are. Often times opening the back and unplugging the battery then replugging it will also help reset.
