Kindle HD problem

For some reason I seem to have a problem turning off my kindle, maybe putting it to sleep instead. I -thought- I had completely shut down, kind of remember it asking if I wanted to shut down, but this evening I went to turn it on and the battery was dead. It instructed me to charge.

So, I plugged it in and tried again to turn it on. I thought I could use it while it was charging. Is that not the case? Right now it has sort of a blue look to the screen while on the charge. Does that sound right?

I never turn off wifi unless I am just reading, but being that this kindle is new to me, I'm generally surfing or watching vids, not reading. When shut down, it isn't necessary to turn off wifi is it?

In sleep mode, should the battery run down from a near complete charge to no charge in a 24 hour period? Something just doesn't feel right to me about this.

I have found the people at www.kindleboards.com to be very helpful and quick in their problem solving. I have kindles but not that model. In the past, I have rebooted by holding the on/off switch for a good thirty seconds. They will tell you if that works for the HD.

yes it can drain the battery in sleep mode with wifi on. oftentimes if it is fully depleted it will not allow you to use while charging until a certain % has been reached.
It is not necessary to turn off wifi no.

Hello friends! I have a TV Philips Magnavox HD1918 C125 19" 1998. The problems is: When I turn it on, the screen goes white, then changes to gray with various scrolling horizontal white lines and one top to botton vertical white line, near the left side. The sound is working fine and I can change the channels. I have changed the TDA3653B CI, but nothing different happened. Does anyone have any idea for repairing my TV? Thanks in advance! Mario Sergio

just keep in mind that android tablets let you install the kindle app and the nook app so you can have all of those on one device. It really depends on your needs and wants as to what you get. the tablet with the best sound that I have owned was the vizio it had 3 speakers so no matter which direction you held it in you had stereo and the sound was fantastic. Wish more manufacturers would be more interested in the sound quality and take a lesson and put at least 3 or 4 speakers on them. I often struggle hearing with the one small speaker especially on my phone. I love love love my new Asus transformer tf300 10" tablet with dock but it too could use some improvement in the sound and speaker department. My husband still absolutely loves his lookbook in fact he now has his and mine and I am trying to make him transition over to my Vizio tablet so he has more options and can do other things on it. He is fighting me he wants to stick with his lookbook he is not a fan of the touch screen he keeps touching things by accident then I hear swearing lol. He is not a good student is all I have to say LOL That lookbook is extremely light weight you will not likely find any tablet that is that light.

did you try using the tiny reset button? I have had to do reset on my various tablets from time to time, you have to use a paper clip to push it. anything that cost as much as they do should have that kind of support. they do have several pages of things to try you may want to look here at the screen suggestions Screen Issues like Plug it in, hold the on switch for at least 30 seconds this is the info from kindle support for using the reset button. 1. It is preferable to have the Kindle plugged into a power source when you press the reset button, especially if the battery is low, 2. Turn OFF the wireless switch before pressing the reset button. In addition, be certain that whatever you are using to press the reset button is actually thin enough to get deeply enough into the reset hole. You may want to inquire if the replacement will be a refurbished unit in many cases they are. Often times opening the back and unplugging the battery then replugging it will also help reset.

You're problem is leaving the WiFi on. It's the simplest thing to turn on and off. No need for it to be on when it's sleeping. They never shut down. They just turn off and go into sleep mode. The only way to keep a charge in the battery for any length of time is to keep the WiFi off unless it's absolutely necessary. It certainly isn't needed for reading. Only for the downloads.

Thanks for clearing up the wifi problem, ladies!
I did the hard reset and that fixed it. All recharged now. It scared me for a minute!

If you hold down the power button for like 15 or 20 seconds, I believe that totally turns it off. dont't hit the shut off button, just continue holding down the power button until the screen turns black
