NOTHING BUT TROUBLE: I bought a new one...Had it for 4 weeks & they had to replace it. The 2nd one I have had in service now for less than 2 months. Altogether I have had the service team out 6 times all total. 6 times. The unit was professionally installed. The LP Gas conversion was the first issue they said as it didn't work at all correctly. Something wrong with the unit that they simply couldn't fix. Now the Oven doesn't work right and the burners still do not work evenly with "popping" noises and changes in gas flame heights without touching any control buttons. Looks Great! Pretty Stove. But useless if you can't use it - especially for $10k. I bought ours from Fergussons in Nashville TN and their people are unable to do anything - bad service team as their technicians actually use youtube to work on the unit.....that has to be a bad issue. (NOTE: the JennAir matching dishwasher dumps water all over my new floors and cabinets. We had a full kitchen renovation) To say we are unhappy with the product is an understatement and yet it seems we are stuck with it thus far until the next steps whatever they are. Suggesion is IF you buy one....don't pay for it in full and "maybe - just maybe" you'll get better service? UNIT: JennAir - 48" RISE™ Gas Professional-Style Range with Chrome-Infused Griddle

I am in the same boat. Replacing my second Jennair, --maybe I should just keep it? Can not help you too much. what I have been told, is that the size of the ductwork will be different. Depending on the space and the size of the ducts in the new system, you could be looking at trouble. Either that there will not be space in your cabinet or under the cabinet, for the new size of duct. Or expensive work, and frustrated installer having to go out to buy the right attachments. SO I am going to dig out my old Jennair materials and take that with me to a dealer to see what best matches it. Maybe even photograph what is under your current cooktop and downdraft. One dealer told me it washighly likely that the new downdraft would have totally different sized ducts. The point is that Jennair was pretty ineffective, and the new one might be better, but trouble to install. You may need to replace the ductwork.

Two thoughts: Since no one else confirmed joboxes, I just wanted to confirm that the two inch notch is required to be cut in the counter. I was surprised that the original installation (the hole for the cooktop and popup) was cut on site rather than at the granite place. It is cut with a high speed grinder saw. It appears to be a risky opperation but the installers didn't seem to worry about it. Second: admittedly I don't do a lot of high heat searing or other roaring flame cooking; but I don't use the vent very much. It does work to catch too hot oil smoke and some bacon type spatter, but I think it misses some on the front burners anyway. I am very surprised that I don't notice that the ceiling (or pendant lights) is covered with gunk after 5 years. My point is that if you perform expressive high heat cooking, that a real, ugly overhead hood would be wiser; AND if you don't, perhaps a vent is unnecessary.

When we purchased our house 5 years ago we replaced the Jenn Air electric cooktop with downdraft vent with the gas version [I think after Googling your model number you are considering the gas cooktop]. One major warning a friend gave me was the vent "pulled" the gas flame. After talking with another friend who had the same model, her comment was, "With the gas it will be so much better than what you've had, you'll love it". OK, so she was partially right; I eventually felt like I cooked on a habachi griddle, I would move the food around to cook on the hotter or cooler portion of the pan. I did not realize how noisy & ineffective the vent was (low speed [2 speeds]) until we just remodeled & replaced with a Kitchen Aid 36" gas cooktop & Zephyr Island hood (42") -- amazing!!!! Now, I understand you may not be able to go with an island hood -- we removed the sheetrock & vented through the joists on 2nd floor out to our deck. If you can't do that research the telescoping downdraft vent. It may still pull the flame, but it will be more effective than the 2-speed Jenn Air. Also, this Kitchen Aid cooktop was some type closeout or special purchase at BrandsMart (Atlanta & other SE locations) for $300 last fall!!!! It is working so beautifully we are amazed & giddy. You also mentioned the Jenn Air finish. That was also odd for us. We paid extra for "stainless steel" & all that was stainless was a 1" border on black enamel/porcelein trays. The stainless was to be cleaned "with the grain" which was wiping 1 inch all the way around -- I felt very frustrated trying to clean up. Additionally, we purchased (or perhaps received at a reduced price) the griddle. Since this was 4 burner, it was not a module we would leave in all the time, but even when we used it (TWICE!!!) it forced the vent & the gas temperature to be on high & was unbearable to listen to & cook with/burn with. Perhaps newer models have improved, but definitely don't pay extra for the griddle. My friend was correct, the gas was much better to cook with than electric, but I'm glad I no longer have this Jenn Air cook top.
