Here are the opening comments in Barbi's post at LZD Hi folks, I am at the end of my rope with a virus. I've had friends who are good with computers help me, to no avail. It started when I clicked on a bad link in an e-mail, I got a fake "Protection System" message and it took over from there. I have managed to remove that part of it, the box that kept popping up. At first you could only run the computer in safe mode but now most programs are working with multiple clicks and some effort. However, it will not allow me to run Malware Bytes. I have tried re-naming it, tried using it from a USB stick, tried deleting bad files from the registry, and so far nothing has helped me to run this program. I've tried AVG, Avast, Ad-aware and Kaspersky for help. AVG found cookies but that was it. Sometimes they will remove part of the virus but then it comes back when I re-boot. It keeps giving me a box that says your last browsing session closed unexpectedly, and I click on go to Home page and am able to use the internet this way. When I Google something, I click on the link and it takes me to an advertising page. Can you help me? I have been at this for days now and so drained, I have arthritis and typing is an effort for me. Here are my logs per Corrine's instructions: OK so let's start by asking a few questions. You wrote that Corrine said to post the log, what else was on that post of yours and Corrine's reply? You show Spybot Search and Destroy and AdAware, what version of each and when was the last time you updated the definitions for these and ran a full scan with either or both? You can get the version by opening each program, click Help then About. Here are a few things I found but only got half way down the list, I need to return to it later CTsvcCDA.EXE Look tinyproxy.exe - Look sessmgr.exe:*:enabled:@xpsp2res.dll,-22019 - Look In the registry dump section you show AVG 7 and 8, what's with that? You do not have both versions running do you? Also in the registry dump are references to Kaazaa, uTorrent and BearShare. These are file sharing programs ans the best way to get a computer infected in a hurry. What is the purpose of GetRightToGo program? You have referenced to Barbi and Joost, what is that? Ha ha, reading further I now suspect that is you and your spouse/partner. On a small side note for future reference you have too much 'stuff' on the hard drive with only 15% free space. Things not needed or used should be uninstalled to create a 25% free space so your swap file works better making the computer un faster.

Well if you had success with Malwarebytes perhaps it is not necessary to run Superantispyware. If you would care to try then as you start the computer keep tapping the F8 button and a screen will appear with start up options. Select safe mode, everything will look totally different to the normal startup because only essential drivers have been allowed to start. My concern was the fact you mentioned AVG was not running properly. That is a good indicator of trouble. On reading the initial post a second time it appears you overcame that issue

I think that is the game plan..once she removes what she wants from the puter, she is going to set a restore point then do the 3 .dll file downloads and installation..should all go well, she will touch base on the other forum for a new scan..if that works, good, if not, then will use the restore disks..I dont think I have ever seen a system repair option with the disks or are you refering to the restore partition on the HDD..ie: Last known working config etc...

Thanks for bump!..........Now it can drop!
