Comments (7)Angie is correct. Once seasoned they are pretty much as non stick as the best non stick pan once that non stick pan is 1 year old. The Debuyer only gets better with age though while the non stick pan is usually toast and ready to be tossed within 5 years. They can be super heated to really sear nicely. Once well seasoned they are pretty much non reactive to anything short of doing an all day Sketti sauce. But that is what the Le Creuset is for. The Mineral Steel does everything the stainless steel does PLUS will become totally non stick, something stainless will never be. They are also not expensive at all, less than most any stainless and are lifetime pans. In fact if you have children they will use them until they are old and pass them to their children. And they will work better 100 years from now than they do today. Le Cresuet if properly taken care of should at least last your lifetime also. Those ARE expensive though. But you only need about 3 of those pots. One 2 1/2qt multipot one 3 3/4Qt multi pot. and one 8qt oval dutch oven. I actually bought a 8Qt Kirkland Oval Dutch Oven which so far seems to be very nice. Cost on that was just $79 Vs about $400 for the Le Cresuet. Comments (5)A basic well seasoned cast iron skillet will be way superior to any non stick pan, and won't have a chemical coating. My eggs slide right out. I use mostly cast iron cookware....basic Lodge "bare" cast iron, some Le Creuset, and some Staub. I have some All Clad as well. It is good cookware and they stand behind their warranty. I put most of it away because I prefer cast iron, but I have a few sizes handy for boiling water and making stock. I like that it is made in the U.S.A. I refuse to buy Chinese cookware. My suggestion is to evaluate what you like to cook and then mix and match pieces that fit you. If it is at all in your budget my advice would be to spend the money up front for quality. If necessary, purchase fewer pieces to get started and then build up from there. It will last a lifetime and be a joy to cook with. There are some that really like Fissler cookware as well. It is made in Germany. I haven't tried it as of yet, but if I add a stockpot in the future I may. Have fun with the process, although I know it can be overwhelming at times making decisions about it. If you purchase from a business that has a satisfaction guarantee that helps. For example, Williams Sonoma will let you return something within 90 days no questions asked. I'm sure there are others as well. That way if you get a pan and absolutely hate using it, you won't be out your money. Don't be afraid to mix and match brands either. Comments (3)I have an Outlooks stainless steel 5 quart pot that I got at a yard sale about 10 years ago. On the bottom it says Made in Korea, sold by Sears and Roebuck and 391.5070. I saw a picture of a Range Craft 5 qt pot on the web. It was the same as an Outlooks. I tried to find more of either brand for sale but could find almost NO references to either brand. Not even on Ebay. I just now tried looking again but found nothing. My Outlooks pot is pure stainless steel with a heavy thick stainless bottom. Sorry I couldnt help you find what you are looking for. If you find a source for either brand pls let me know.
