I have mailwasher that lets me know what is there B4 it downloads from server and the option to mark "friends" and check spam for deletion if need to do so. Get very little spam. I have gmail and like it better to open in OE as I can write back just as though it was OE but with gmail address etc. I just opened another web mail account called Windows Live Mail that is an excellent program excepting all your other mail accounts too so you can open, read, and answer all from one place. you need to head to the malware removal forum at LzD they will guide you through clean up and running of some special scans. if you just download the version of AVG you will get linkscanner included, it has been the cause of some problems for some people causing slow downs and extra cpu usage so AVG put out a FAQ on how to install with out the linkscanner which is what many are doing and it seems to be much better. to install AVG 8.0 Free Edition without the LinkScanner component, It is always best when possible to download directly from the vendor site rather than some other site unless the vendor directs you to a mirror site for download. That way you know you are getting the latest versions provided by the vendor and less likely you are getting a compromised version. Be sure you get the superantispyware free also it will clean any spyware from your pc when you updated it and scan with it weekly. the spywareblaster all you do for it is hit update about once a week then hit the enable all protection button so the shield turns green that is it.

That sounds like Virut virus lets hope not though..... Unfortunately, the virus infects every .exe and .scr (actually an executable) file on your system, and when you scan with a virus scanner, it will normally delete it as uncleanable. Eventually you end up loosing more and more files. The only viable alternative is to format the system. You will need to backup your important files before a format and reinstall, but you can not backup any .exe or .scr files, because they are infected. Good luck...
