Insulate Rim Board?

My builder held back the rimboard 1/2" from the edge of the foundation to allow for plywood sheathing to match up to the wall assembly that is being pre-built by a paneler off-site.

I am wondering, instead of using 1/2" ply to cover the rim joist, would it be better to cover with 1/2" poly iso (R-3.3) -- using a product like Thermax (made by Dow) or Energy Shield Plus (made by Atlas Roofing)?

We also plan to use sprayfoam on the inside of the band joist.

Concern is if this arrangement will cause condensation (the wood would be sandwiched between insulation on both sides), or if it will help improve insulating performance.

Thanks for feedback.
