What do you think of this laptop deal? (need quick answer)

Found this Dell laptop offer on QVC. Does it seem like a great deal? What about the processor and graphics card they're offering with it? I use Quickbooks, PhotoShop CS, and other very programs so the memory should be good, right? I will mainly use this for business, pleasure (no games), watching some videos. Anything else about it I should be leary of from the specs provided?

sounds high to me compared to similar items I have been seeing advertised recently.

Also, I'd want a 7200 RPM hard drive, even if the capacity is smaller than this one. The latest wireless is b/g/n also. I would prefer DDR3 RAM. Maybe I'm fussy, but the price should be rock bottom for anything less than the latest.

Yes, Canna is very invasive and spreads too fast. I had one, not even orange that I also dislike but a burgundy leaf Canna behind one of my rose beds but I found that it spread to the direction of rose roots (well, the roses got more water and fertilizer) so after two years we had to take out the entire huge clump. I love the burgundy leaves but the plant now is in a big pot. Despite any advice and reading I also had to experiment with perennials; not even the perennials I love work always. I was truly sad to realize that I have problems with black and blue salvia planted among the roses so this winter we take them out. Hoovb, Lobelia self-seeds in your garden? Lucky, lucky you! I love those Lobelias and buy a lot of them every year. They never, ever self-seeded here. And they are usually gone by July.

I'd speculate it will wow you with the quad core processor & that laptop is upselling itself as great gaming computer so the graphics should be better than a normal laptop at that price range. I noticed other laptops with same processor/graphics fall around the same price level so dont think its any low price super deal... but it is, a standard on sale price. You like your gateway... try to find its run hours, make sure you're happy with battery life... and buy it.

hi OB2B, so nice to meet you today? did you enjoy the tour? I had a chance to see a few of the houses this afternoon. It was a great day. steph2000, thanks so much! i think you are right re: the semi-flush. right now I am going to take a breather until the hood is ready. I pushed really hard to get this done for the tour today -- there were so many people here this week. will be nice to take a little break. deedles, I purchased the wolf 20" riser with shelf for behind the range. it isn't up yet. the guys were having trouble sliding the range out. the riser has to attach to the back of the range (i would have assumed it could just attach to the wall) and so the range has to slide out. The marble countertops are very tight to the range with really no gap at all so it was difficult for them and they were rushing so much to get so many things done that I suggested we address it later when they can slow down a little (I was a little afraid of them damaging the doors on my range ... they were pullling on them trying to slide it out and that was definitely not okay with me!).

Go with the two (modest) chandeliers. This will emphasize the length of the island unit and if there's only a single worker at island, that person will likely stand between them--nothing in way of seeing his/her face from a distance or in looking out from island into adjacent spaces. These lights will also help light the space surrounding the island. Get ones whose bulbs can be dimmed from good and bright to mood/nighlight setting. I know you've already lived with chandelier in kitchen and have weighed the pluses and minuses, but I am always concerned about dusting, so I'd find a chandy that is not entirely clear glass--sparkle sufficient for glitz yet practicality so you don't need to hire help for cleanliness. I think cans are less welcoming, more shadow-making, less inviting.

You can probably do better at the Dell web site, and customize it exactly as you want it.

With all the after Thanksgiving sales going on in the states (if that's where you are)I would check your local fliers for better deals. Keep the specs for that one and see if you can find another (Toshiba, HP, Acer) with same or better specs for less money

I took your advice and skipped this advertised one. It did have some decent bells and whistles which is why I considered it. However, I'm not in dire need of a new laptop, so I'll save my money and use it when I NEED to. Thanks all.
