Not so much cookware, but leftover-ware?!
Comments (28)Courcelles, I'm still loving the glass dishes... both kinds. I think on a day-to-day basis, I use the 3 cup glass top ones the most, and certainly the 12 cup the least (hardly ever that much leftovers!). The covers are a little loose, but that doesn't seem to affect the ability to contain odors; I don't know why, or maybe I haven't put too many "smelly" things in them. I have to say I get the feeling they are more "doomed to destruction" than the pyrex, as the shape is more awkward to hold/carry and I've got teenagers who aren't too careful. But so far, so good. I love the pyrex (size and shape and covers), and would love if they made more sizes in the rectangle. A smaller but higher would be great (4 cup?). Perhaps I should just write to them to give them some ideas! I really do love the rectangles for storage, and the glass cleans so easily (no stains, no odors) compared to plastic. I just went on the Ikea site to look for the containers you mention. Are they the Koloni jars with lids? They look interesting, but I can't find any info as to whether they are microwaveable? They do say dishwasher safe, so that's good. I just know I like to microwave in the containers, so I'd be curious as to whether that's okay. I know I'll eventually buy more containers; just waiting and hoping I find some other, useful sizes....See MoreHow shall we observe Corning Ware's 50th anniversary? :)
Comments (6)Loved the "counter that cooked" which we installed in our house when building in about 1967 or '68 - it came with plain white square smooth bottomed "pans", but recently the large square "pot" cracked while I was cooking soup. Anyone willing to sell such a pot? I am so used to it - now 81, too old to learn new tricks. When kids bought my house, they tore out & threw away the Corningware Counter and installed gas. In my new house, I put in a stove with a glass top so I have been continuously using Corningware for about 42 years....See More'used' kitchen ware finds?
Comments (58)jae_tn, I not only remember those handles, I have one. If I remember correctly, Most of the Blue Cornflower Corning Ware IS stove top safe. Check the bottoms, to be sure. And I, too, do frozen vegetables in the microwave. In casseroles like the one shown, No water, just whatever seasoning I like. My microwave has settings for frozen and fresh vegetables. For frozen green beans, I use the frozen vegetable setting, Let them set a minute or two, Then cook them another minute. They come out tender, But not over cooked. Come to think of it, I use my Corning Ware & microwave For just about all vegetables. Rusty...See MoreIs anyone else seeing the death of Garden Web this AM?
Comments (65)All right - Im close to bailing out here - I just want to retrieve some of my better posts and maybe me and Houzzz can duke it out over who "owns" them. They are merging everything - besides decorating there is now "Advice" and some other categories that seem to exist now. Perhaps I could deal with the cluttery chaotic format, but the rudeness of in your face pop-ups that don't take no for an answer are hard to deal with. I don't ordinarily act as diversity police, but I must say the "lets get started" screen with the 2 young perky blondes and the bald guy of indeterminant age does NOT represent, or appeal to my demographic!...See Morethisisit
