I also like to bake. I'm looking at the Dacor. Instant pre-heat, precise temperature and even heat. Meile is supposed to be good as well but pre-heat is not instant.

I haven't gotten yet but it's supposed to be really good.

I had the Dacor epicure discovery oven and ER36D range when they first came out. It looked good on paper but there was no instant preheat(I think it was called rapid heat), precise temp or even heat. Both were nightmares and I wonder if they ever got any of these issues fixed. I replaced the oven with the Electrolux regular oven(half the cost) because it had more features than the Icon at the time. It had the enamel flake but Electrolux replaced it and I love the way the oven bakes. Very quick preheat and accurate temps. The lights are on the side and placed so the visibility is very good. Service was no quibble.
Whatever oven you buy, make sure you get an oven thermometer and check it.
If you get the Dacor I would love to hear how it works now. There was another poster who got his oven around the same time I did who had initial problems with Dacor but eventually after 3 ovens I think got it worked out and liked his oven.
Other Dacor owners I know
-6 year old mid range oven works great
-cooking school with Dacor double oven-top of the line a year older than mine -multiple service calls won't hold temperatures very slow-can.t be fixed
-2 other acquaintances have my same oven-they don't really use it much, but one said it didn't heat well very slow

Others on this forum have liked the GE monogram oven too

Thank you very much for you imput. I was initially looking at the Meile Masterchef but it will $1K more and this Dacor sounded like a good alternative. I am looking at the Discovery Millennia.

I wonder if anyone has any recent experience with this oven?

I guess I still have some research to do.

Thanks, for the feedback. Consumer Report rates Dacor and GE Monogram with high service repairs. I really don't want to touch that I had a lot of problems with my Kitchen Aid. I was considering the regular Electolux but there isn't any repair history on their product. In my research the Wolf is suppose to be better than the Meile Master Chef. Any other input would be greatly appericated. I need to make a decision soon.

We are getting the 36" wolf range but I need a separate, smaller, built-in oven for baking etc. I saw the Electrolux but dismissed it because it didn't sound as cool as the Dacor and I didn't like the look of the gap in the front for the vent. It is a lot cheaper so I guess I should look into it again. As a bonus, it would match my fridge. I'm looking at the Icon wave touch control. I hope it comes in 27".

Did you find the Electrolux baked evenly? Could you put several trays of cookies in the oven? Did both the edge cookies and the middle cookie cook the same?

I also need to make a decision soon.
