First, thank you for responding!!! Yeah, when they delivered the "soil", I called up the landscaping company, because I was at work when they delivered it, and said, "uh, I think they delivered sand, not soil". She laughed and said it was vegas soil....LOL!!! I measured the amount of water, and in 20 minutes I got about half an inch of water. It seems all the sod "took". I went around a few weeks ago and pulled up on various locations and nothing moved (Thank God)! And if you pull up on the yellow areas, it feels good and secure. I took my little hand rake and raked thru the yellow spots, and nothing comes out - like if it was completely dead you know the dead grass comes right out. Sorry, I'm knew to this, back in Chicago you didn't have to work hard on grass!! LOL!!! I went to star nursery yesterday, I've got a tall fescue - "emerald carpet". He also said to keep watering heavy since it's new grass. He told me to use a product called "Fung Away" and also a fertilizer called "7-7-7 Triple Play". I need more fung away though since I ran out of it and wasn't even done with the grass. But, how soon after I do the fung away, can I fertilize? Can I do the corn meal and fung away? He also mentioned mowing the grass in 3 different directions, then taking the lawn mower and power washing the bottom of it, and spraying with a bleach water to kill any fungus that might be left on the mower. He said to water it for 45 minutes 2/day. Does that sound good to you? Or, can I do a heavy water every other day and the in between days do a lighter watering? Such as Monday-heavy, Tuesday-lighter, Wednesday-heavy....THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!!!!

If the wireless deer fence really works, that looks like a nice solution. From people who have dealt with deer, though, I would expect they might just learn to avoid it ... just as they learn to accept the motion-activated sprinklers. I've heard that an electrified wire that runs around the garden generally works well, as does clear fishing line strung at their chest height and "ankle" height ... they can't see it, but can feel it and become confused and avoid it. They can jump quite high, but need room in order to do so; therefore, two parallel fences spaced just right will deter them - they have to be far enough apart that the deer cannot clear both in one jump, but close enough that they can't get the start they need to clear the second. Some people install these fences at an angle, but that becomes quite space-intensive. As others have already stated, keeping the greenhouse cool in spring and summer would be a real problem, especially for those cool-weather crops you're planning. The shade house idea is a good one, however, and I'm wondering if you could get away with some type of tunnel-type structure covered with bird netting or some other mesh. For an easy-to-build frame, have you seen the faux bamboo stakes and connectors? Sort of like a large Tinker-Toy set for adults/gardeners. Gardener's Supply has them. Actually, greenhouser, deer are becoming more and more a problem in suburban areas. We're creating the perfect habitat for them. Deer actually dwell at the woods' edge, seeking shelter inside and food in the adjacent meadows ... whether that "meadow" be wild or someone's lawn and gardens. Their natural predators all but gone and an abundant food supply, their numbers increase until population pressures force them to move outward to new areas. Deer seem to be extremely adaptable and, as evident in some previous posts, become used to living around people, even standing their ground, blithely munching away on choice specimens, as a homeowner/gardener advances trying to shoo them away (I've seen it on video). Squirrelypete, I don't know that it would be any comfort to your hubby, but my dad, who loved fishing, held the philosophy that the fish got itself caught because of its own greed: it thought it was eating something else; so he had no qualms about eating it (though he'd never have hunted).

I also have an acer aspire one and agree 100% with Owbist about the wireless usb mini mouse, I was getting no where trying to use that touchpad then grabbed one of my little mice and have not even considered using the touch pad again it is so much better now. Has she tried adjusting the settings on the cursor and touchpad at all it may be that it needs some slight adjustments. PolarPrincess - If you have a USB port, buy an external hard drive that connects to the USB port and copy ALL of your data (pictures and other personal files) to it. Then your data is safe and you can clean up the rest of the system. If not, burn them to CD for safety. THEN: 1 - Empty the Trash 2 - Search for files on the entire system, using this search pattern" *.bak (those are temporary files that can be deleted) 3 - Delete all of those files. 4 - Empty the trash again. 5 - Search for all *.tmp files and delete them 6 - Empty the trash again. 7 - Run the Windows XP "check disk" utility as described here: http://www.updatexp.com/windows-xp-chkdsk.html It may take quite a while ... 8 - Then try running the defragmentation program.
