I have just loaded Outlook on a new notebook, Outlook 2002. I've used this version of Outlook since 2002, but alas that notebook did a big crash. The good news, I had all but the last two days of message folders on a back up drive, in a folder called "Exchange". Now, on my old XP home there was a folder called "OutlookFolders" which had "Exchange" and other details in it. So, all I need to do is copy the back-up data into the new computer's "OutlookFolders", but I can't find them, nor can the XP search. I do have folders maked to shoe hidden. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know about what you are requesting, but you can have your gmail mails downloaded in OE. My provider does not have an e-mail server, so I have a couple of gmail accounts. I have them configured to download to Outlook Express, and this works just fine for me. I simply open OE and get my emails. Open your gmail account and click Settings. Then choose Forwarding and POP/IMAP. Tick 'Disable forwarding', and then under Status tick whichever choice you wish. The instructions are also there for configuring OE to allow gmail to be downloaded. This might be easier and better for you than trying to reverse the other action.

Owbist, I think you just fixed my problem. After becoming stuck on the deleting of the temporary files.....I skipped over a couple of steps in the repair kit. I read the part which about when suddenly messages that you sent are no longer being sent to the "Sent Folder". That is exactly what is happening here. The first step to try....was to compact all folders. That fixed my problem! I am no longer sending multiple emails. Sent emails are going to the Sent Folder. Wow.....this is great !! Do you think I should go back and complete the removing of the temporary files even though it seems my problem is solved? Owbist....I cannot thank you enough. I thought I would empty my sent folder. It had lots of old emails within. As I was emptying it, I discovered that somewhere along the line.....the emails were getting the wrong date. Some were dated as far forward as September 2010. The date problem at some point got corrected......so the July 2010 files were being placed before the Sept. and Aug emails.....thus being hidden (to me). To make a long story short.....the problem seem to be resolved. Larry
